WOYWW 791 Windows, sea caves and new paints

Hi all,
I’m joining in with What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday, kindly curated by Sarah’s Craft Shed. Take a look and join in!
My workdesk is from my summer art class. Thank you all for encouraging me to finish my collage and watercolour sea cave after a Sara Adams painting.
I’m much happier with it now.

Here as well are all our watercolour koi carp from the last class of my summer watercolour workshops

And here’s my desk of today. I’ve been lusting after beautiful handmade watercolours from A. Gallo, a small Italian company that makes gorgeous and non-toxic watercolours.

They were in a sale so I snapped them up.
Even the wrapping is gorgeous.

This is such a treat after last week’s upheavals. We needed new front windows and had to move lots of things out of the way in the front room. The company was excellent and installed them in 3 hours, but then we had to put everything back.

It was a bit stressful but Bella has got over it and sends you all purrs.

My squares and rectangles of c2c crochet are slowly growing. They were going to be slipover for Brian but the shape may lend itself better to a kimono-style cardigan.

And finally, since Paris is on the TV so much at the mo…

Sorry Sarah!

Take care all and happy WOYWW

WOYWW 790 Book sales and collage

Hi all,
Here’s my desk this week. My summer watercolour class uses collage and watercolour for a sea cave picture this week. The original pictures are by Sara Adams.

I'm not very happy with it but it’s better than my first attempt, below, I think. I don’t think I’m much good at collage.
This one had too much newspaper and the sea was wrong.
The last class is tomorrow ( Wednesday).
Last week was Hythe (Kent) Food and craft fair so I joined other local authors in selling our books.

The weather was good but everyone commented that sales were slow. We didn’t have a gazebo but being outside meant we didn’t have to pay stall fees.
Bella would rather have me doing crochet than being out selling books or painting as she can at least sit on my knee for crochet.

She sends purrs to everyone.
And finally…

Take care and happy WOYWW

WOYWW 789 Home again and back to squares

Hi all, we’re home now from our holiday in France. I put some more photos of Giverny, Amboise and Guédelon here if you’d like to see them:
Guédelon was fascinating, a 13th century fortress being built now, using medieval tools and techniques. There’s more about it here Guédelon castle
My nöstepinne has been in use again as I’ve gone back to the granny square jumper I’m making.

I go back to my summer watercolour school tomorrow where we’ll be painting some more Sarah Adams sea cave paintings, using collage.
My St Tropez crochet handbag went down well with our goddaughter, Alexia, on her birthday:

I had requests for  two crochet workshops
to teach Alexia’s cousin, Ornella to do granny squares and a grape harvest friend, Isabelle, for a Corner- to- Corner pattern. ( The same pattern I’m using for my squares above).

Bella was so welcoming when we got home.

Cuteness central!
She’s now in her traditional position, not at all bothered by having my crochet laid out over her!

And finally:

Take care and happy WOYWW

Giverny, Amboise and Guédelon

Monet's house and garden in Giverny

The famous bridge hidden in foliage and full of people

Silly pompom headed chickens

His walls were full of Hokusais and Hiroshiges

This was the beautiful garden of Clos des Artistes, a lovely B&B with its own beautiful gardem

The old Hotel Baudy where Monet and co drank, I wonder if the name has any link with 'bawdy' in English? ;-)

These are from the Impressionists by theSea exhibition in Giverny museum

They had us trying to build a model of a vaulted arch - it's not easy!

Clos Lucé Amboise

Leonardo's garden at Clos Lucé

Leonardo used sprinklers, pipes and Archimedes screw tools to make a mist over the lake - very atmospheric
