Our art class has finished for the summer now, and there weren’t enough takers for the summer course so it was cancelled. I guess people have holidays etc. I shall have to get painting anyway as our exhibition is September and October this year. There’s also been a request for more Emotional Support Chickens so I’m looking for some nice multicoloured Toy standard yarn.
My desk, this week, is a little plastic tray on my lap, which gives Bella space to sleep. She sends you all purrs.
I think she likes our ProBreeze air cooler as well, which was recommended by our Neet. It blows moisture-cooled air and works better than a fan, especially when we put an ice block in the water tank.
I’m just playing with felt embroidery at present and don’t have anything to show yet, but I like this Fybrespates ‘Gleem’ embroidery silk.
I handed over my 10 cannula sleeves and have started to knit more. This one’s 17 inches long, from the pattern of the Handmade for Dementia Facebook group. I’m just starting the lining.
The pattern for these was created and risk assessed by dementia nurses, with only knitted or crochet twiddles, with shorter than 2” free ends, to avoid choking hazards.
The weather’s a bit hot for knitting now (over 30deg here) but it won’t last.
We had a lovely day at the Pilgrim’s Way Art exhibition in the Tithe Barn in Lenham on Friday. We’d arranged to meet an ex-colleague of Brian’s and his wife for lunch, as they live in Lenham, and really enjoyed spending time with them. They took us to a pub near Charing, the Wagon and Horses, which had good food and a lovely garden.
The exhibition had lots of good art
And finally…
I’ll be round tomorrow,
Happy WOYWW

Happy too hot WOYWW
ReplyDeleteA knitter's revolution! What fun - sharp needles help... :D Love the sleeves, so colourful, but OMG Bella on your lap in this heat? That is love for sure. The art is fab too and a nice pub lunch with friends always a bonus.

Doing that stitching is the best thing to do in this heat, nice to use your beautiful threads! The dementia twiddle mitt is bright and cheerful, love the colours. How wonderful that you’ve been asked to make more chickens for the exhibition, I love that! The art work was amazing, I particularly love the one of the tree and how lovely to get out for lunch with old friends and colleagues xxxx

Shame the summer course wasn't possible . Looks like your lunch with friends was gorgeous. Helen #1
ReplyDeletee've got one of those fan things that you put ice blocks in but yesterday nothing was cooling the place down. Thank goodness it's a bit better today. Well done with the knitting and the exhibition looked good. Your funnies made me smile especially the daleks, now how did they get there! Happy creative woyww, Angela x10x
ReplyDeleteWhat a great trip out.. art, lunch and friends. Perfect! Your cooler sounds wonderful - well done Neet on coming up with a solution. We will often be reminded of her won't we.x x Jo 🌈
ReplyDeletePoor Bella, ahe can't take her fur coat off in the heat! But I'm sure she appreciates the cool air from the fan! I often wonder if my step-father with dimmentia would benefit from one of your creations, but he mostly sleeps all the time. I am very impressed with the last two paintings, are they from your tutor? They are awesome! Have a great week, keep cool if you can, Lindart #11🍧🍨
ReplyDeleteOh the Fyberspates thread looks cool, never heard of that one. I've been taking my tin of stuff to different locations too. I managed a few hours in the conservatory in the early hours this morning door wide then some time in the front north facing room but alas it's too hot again for me so back in bed/craft room this afternoon. Love the canula sleeve too and super art exhibition. Hugs Bj#2
ReplyDeleteI had to smile at the Dalek Bayeux Tapestry Lynne. Hope the fan is keeping you all cool. The heat has been unbearable. Some great artwork at the exhibition. Stay cool and happy WOYWW. Sarah
