I’ve diverted this week into making beanie hats, using up extra yarn I bought for the vineyard shawl. The shawl was delivered, and much appreciated by my goddaughter and her partner, who models his beanie.
I dislike pom-pond so I’ve made a little wool button to sit on top.
Thea is happy on my crocheting cushion; the only way to persuade her to get down is to take her photo!
I’m waiting for the Christmas spirit to strike, but I have had one present, a very nicely wrapped magic carpet from Shoshi, thanks so much!
And sometimes not even then!
I usually have to go out to get holly first but haven’t been going out. We’re in Tier 3 but covid rates are still just going up really fast here.
They say there’s a new variant of the virus. Super scary.
Our neighbour has a lot of exterior lights, all year round. It makes it hard to see the stars but there are supposed to be good meteor showers this week. There’s also a Jupiter/Saturn planet conjunction on 21 Dec, that may make an amazing Christmas star. https://earthsky.org/human-world/was-the-christmas-star-real

The And Finally made me hoot!! It’s so true though Ron doesn’t get as involved these days, too much snoozing to do.... The beanies are looking good and the model is showing them off nicely :-D
ReplyDeleteI’ve played Crib since a very young age, my parents and brothers were all mad keen players - Owen is good too so we have fun. Even now I still count in 15’s if faced with a lot of numbers and yes, we say One for His Nob too, lol!!!

Hi Lynne. That And Finally is great - and oh so true. I don't have a cat, but daughter number 1 has 2 and they get into everything! - yes, including the Christmas Tree, which these days has to be attached to the ceiling for safety!
ReplyDeleteThe beanies and scarf look great on the models! Oooo - you are the recipient of Shoshi's carpet needle holder. Well done. They are lovely.
Take care. God bless.

How lucky to be the winner for Shoshi's carpet needlebook. Appropriate it went to you rather than a papercrafter like me.
ReplyDeleteHow strange to me that you don't like pom pms, I adore them, the bigger the better. Good that we all have different tastes isn't it.
Hugs, Neet 16 xx
Hi Lynne, the beanies look great, great idea instead of pom poms, I think they only work for kiddies. Well done on winning Shoshi's needlecase. Have to admit it's not really feeling very Christmassy yet. Stay safe, have a lovely week, hugs, Shaz #6 X
ReplyDeletethe Beanie hats are brilliant, what a great idea. Lucky you to win the needlework book, well done. I agree the virus gets more and more scary. Love your kitty. Stay safe and have a very happy woyww Angela x12x
ReplyDeleteGreat hats! I'm with you ~ no pom pom on top! ~ Enjoy the season ~ Love, Karen #32
ReplyDeleteLove the beanies! They are gorgeous. Please don't be too scared about the new variant of the virus - this is what viruses do, they mutate all the time which is why the annual flue jab is against whichever 4-6 variants of the flue virus are predicted to be most prevalent that year. The scientists have known about this new variant for at least 3 months, and are not overly concerned as of yet. The vaccines should still work with it which is the important thing for now. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#13)
ReplyDeletethose pics with the beanies are so funny!! Take care and stay safe. Helen 2
ReplyDeleteHi Lynne, once gain congrats on winning the carpets!! I'm super jelly about that, by the way, but blessings to you on that score! LOL I so LOVE that hubby is willing to be your "test dummy!" So, so funny, but I know it is so helpful!! So glad your goddaughter and partner love their gifts! That shaw was so super cute, so I KNOW she will wear it with pride! :) Merry Christmas to you and blessings, Felicia #31
ReplyDeleteYour beanies are great and you have the best model ever! :D) The shawl was so beautiful!

ReplyDeleteBrilliant hats, and your model is super too! I love your 'and finally' - spot on!! Have a good week, stay well, stay safe, Cindy #26
ReplyDeleteLove the beanie hats Lynne and the wool buttons are a great alternative to pom poms. Wish I could send you some holly. we have a tree in our front garden so not far to go for us. Meow to Thea. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #3
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to win Shoshi's needle case, you lucky lady! I love the beanies and they look good on the models - I find them very difficult to make, I tried following a pattern and ended up doing a spiral instead of one row at a time and of course that put the increasing all out, so I stick to scarves now!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good week,

Hi Lynne, great beanie hats, I don’t think I like Pom ponds either š¤£. I know my typing is fairly accurate so it gets me how the words change on the screen. I can’t work out if my pressure is uneven or if I am fractionally off the buttonš¤£.. have a great week Angela #5
ReplyDeleteLove all your beanies, Lynne. My hubby is a great beanie wearer (keeps his bald pate warm lol!) but I've never made him one! He has quite a collection and some of them look a bit too much like tea cosies for my liking! They don't have pom poms on them!! I'm glad the parcel arrived OK. Have you opened it yet, or are you keeping it for Christmas? Hope you enjoy using it, anyway!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi x #21
yes. that's funny...I can NEVER find the scissors...and moving the cat off things he shouldn't be on, takes up most of my day! Lovely wrapped pressy, lucky you! Sorry I'm so late, I thought it was still Wednesday! Have a great crafty weekend. Happy WOYWW!? Stay Safe,

I've just typed a reply, Lynne, and somehow managed to hit the wrong button and it all vanished... Trouble is, I'm trying to type all sideways on the settee because I've got both kitties on my legs and no room for the laptop - two great heavy warm lumps!! They do love their home comforts esp at this time of year, don't they. Thank you so much for the Persian Tiles attachments you sent me. The kitty throw is coming on nicely but no way will it be finished by Christmas unfortunately. The cat stitch is a fun one, isn't it - I wonder how people think these things up! I hope you enjoy opening your Magic Carpet on Christmas Day - you show more self-control than I'd have under the circumstances, I think. I'm sorry your treatment has left you feeling poorly. Awful when the treatment is worse than the disease, isn't it - I've been there, done that, got the t-shirt as they say, and in my case, got the mug as well, AND broken the teapot!! I hope you feel much better soon.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Christmas.

Happy 602nd WOYWW!
