I’ve something reminiscent of one of your normal desks this week. I’ve been making my origami Chinese thread book. I followed instructions from https://www.paperkawaii.com/origami-chinese-thread-book-video-tutorial/
All the boxes except the pink one have two levels of opening.
I’m going to try to use brads to keep them closed. I’ve yet to make the cover. I’m torn between the lilac patterned origami paper and plain light green paper for the lining. What do you think?
I’ve also crocheted another headband. I’m getting to like this Sheepjes Whirl yarn. It’s from a fine blanket I tried last year and gave up on. Maybe it was just the pattern. I’m now glad one yarn cake never sold.
Here’s Thea being super-cute as ever. She goes out a bit (to sharpen her claws? 😏) but still sleeps for most of the day. She’s 10 now after all!
The weather has been good enough for walks this week. I try to get back before junior school kicks out.
The brook through our village, the Nailbourne, is looking low at present.
In 2000, where it is culverted, the top end of it flooded so that half our main street was under a foot of water. Hard to believe at the moment.

ReplyDeleteThe Drawbridge And Finally made me hoot! Perfect for Sarah and her daily drawings. It’s a bit like the sign for Beware of Otters that is just before Kidwelly, we always wonder what they’re going to do...can they hold a bow and arrows in their little webbed paws?! Your origami boxes are fab and I love the lilac/green combo, really works. The colours on that headband yarn are lovely too. Everything is springing forth here, the gorse is bursting on the hill behind us and the catkins are appearing, it just makes me happy. Am completely fine after my jab yesterday, slightly achy arm but that’s it, hooray!

Hi Lynne. Had to laugh at Lisa's comment about crocheting yourself another husband... goodness, that would be an achievement in a mere week! Aren't those boxes lovely - yes, the green and the lilac. Loved the two "and finally" - brilliant. My family sent me the one with the alien, but hadn't seen the drawbridge before - great fun!

ReplyDeleteYour Chinese boxes are lovely, Lynne, and such gorgeous papers, all of them. I couldn't possibly choose which for the lining though. Thea looks adorable asleep like that - she's a pretty kitty. 10 is quite middle-aged! Loved your funnies. I've seen the 2nd one before and had a good laugh then too, and the first one is hilarious! Definitely one for our Sarah.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit. I think my hubby will like his blanket OK! I like the idea of using blanket stitch to indicate a stripy tail - thanks for the tip. I've started blocking the embellishments now but can only do a few at a time because I've run out of blocking pins. I've just had a thought - I could use my dressmaking ones! Duh.

Your chinese boxes are fabulous Lynne, i've never tried anything like that, I can imagine that take some concentration to start. Doesn't Thea look so sweet, she's a very pretty kitty. ReplyDeleteWow, your little origami boxes are gorgeous - they look immensely time consuming and tricky but very effective -thank you for the link - oh and I think I lean towards the green but then I've never really been a lilac person! I love the poem, Marge Piercy writes beautifully and her book Sex Wars is one of my all time favourites - based on the early feminist movement after the civil war.

Lordy, the abduction cartoon is a bit true!! I bet you e chosen the lining paper already, and I’m pretty sure either would look great, what a lovely way to create a book. I’m really rather useless at following patterns, have just started a crochet blanket for a to-be great neice and I can’t make the pattern stick in my head. Frogged it a dozen times at least! The headbands are a useful idea, I really miss having hair that did what I want it to!

Oh loving the Origami boxes. Memories of my sons and I doing a LOT of paper art Still have some. And Thea, so sweet, Our Bailey too, 10 and sleeps alot Has a day or 2 of wild running and excitement. ! My smile was the cute cartoon ! It is life, crazy in many ways. Enjoy the greening up of grasses and those walks all good for us. A little late with the visit, but between 2 days of router issues and time away I'm still trying to get printers in sync. Enjoy the weekend.
