Here’s my crafting for this week’s blog hop. I found a new pattern that starts in circles and then makes a nice square.
I’ve also experimented with a new colour called bluestone. I’m not sure it works on its own. What do you think? It might work better as accents.
I also made a wreath for my Mum and Dad’s grave. It was my Mum’s birthday on Thursday.

We used to go to the Rambler’s Retreat at Dimmingsdale between Oakamoor and Alton.
I swear their lemon meringue pies are six inches tall!
I had my booster jab on Sunday. Not too bad, sore arm and headaches, and I’m glad to have it.
Folkestone bl**dy council has started work wrecking Princes Parade this week, even though the public enquiry isn’t finished. Thanks all for your kind messages of support. Friends spoke beautifully and courageously despite attacks from a savage QC for the council. Details are here. All the green space on the seaward side of the canal will be built on. This Enquiry is about blocking off the road.
On a brighter note, I had some long awaited happy mail from Susan Renshaw.
She clearly posted it in May from Oz so I don’t know where it’s been since then. A lovely ATC in a pocket and a postcard. I wonder if it got stuck in the Suez Canal 😀
Bella and Gracie have been fighting. I’ve tried a Pet Remedy spray on their bedding to calm them (my asthma is affected by the plug-ins) but nothing is working yet, apart from one staying upstairs and the other downstairs when possible. Any tips gratefully received. It seems worse at crossing places where they pass each other. I’ve sprayed there too.

Sad news about the building and the destruction of the green space. That sucks. I cannot believe they have mince pies on sale already! And I had to laugh about the kitties. My son says his two need "couples counseling" and I bet there is a pet psychologist making a killing on that somewhere. Happy news the ATC finally showed up, and your wreath is lovely. ReplyDeleteI’m sorry to hear about your friend but think you’ve made the right decision about not attending the funeral, she’d have understood. Great news about your booster, hopefully ours is not long away though I hope G is ok, the flu jab made him quite poorly but, as you say, we’re glad to have the jabs. I really like that bluestone colour, it’s a weird tone that probably goes in many different ways, it’s a good foil to your patterned squares.

ReplyDeleteI read the poem, it's beautiful. I understand your fears about the funeral. My father dies last year and I felt it was unfair to expect people to attend. I know my father wouldn't have minded. I know he would have agreed it was the right thing to do and I have to consider my mum too who is disabled and 93. ReplyDeleteSorry too about the cats fighting. Have they always done it or is it something new? Not that I know what to do but it must be a terrible problem and quite worrying. There's quite a bit on the internet about it - mainly take them to the vets, it could be a health thing.
Your bluestone looks grey on here - maybe it has a bluey cast in real life. I'd stick to accents.
If you are not happy about the funeral the thing is don't go. I am fighting a problem of meeting up with friends for a meal - I don't want to go and find myself making silly excuses instead of being up front and saying I just don't want to go as yet. We have to do what is right for ourselves. Better to miss out than risk covid.

I'm still laughing at the funnies at the end. And to be honest I find your cats feuding funny as well - only because it's so human - they must have decided at one point that they were not going to like each other for whatever reason - I hope they'll make friends though. Sorry to hear about your friend - it's a shame to can't attend the wake, but your health is more important - and yes, kids are probably super spreaders. ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your friend - it must have been a difficult decision to decide not to go to the funeral but I'm sure she would understand and given the latest news stories I think you are wise. I'm very much sticking to my guns and not socialising indoors yet, and luckily most of my friends and family understand and respect that.
ReplyDeleteI must say I think the Council are pretty appalling if the public enquiry isn't over yet, what a shame to lose that green area, I should imagine it's wonderful for wildlife.
I love the bluestone colour and would use loads of it!
Hope the kitties sort themselves out - I'd get them checked out at the vet in case one has a problem - I know Guinea Pigs are a different kettle of fish but we've just found a lump in one of our girls and she's recovering from surgery at home now - we checked her out more thoroughly than we usually would because she was becoming unusually grumpy - just a thought anyway.
I saw your poem on FB and loved it - beautiful and poignant - you have a real gift with words.

Your squares are coming on fine, Lynne. I'm sorry to hear the kitties don't seem to be getting on so well at the moment. It may be just a phase while they establish a pecking order. Our two have occasional spats - usually because Ruby wants to play and chases Lily who's a lazy lump and doesn't want to play, and she swears at Ruby! They make up afterwards though. In the early days we had more spats as Ruby decided she wanted to be boss cat but eventually conceded that role to Lily.

Space and time don't permit me to give you a proper reply but there is a great deal more to it than that. The Royal Purple ink arrived today, along with the other colours, and it looks great. I can't wait to play. I have been too busy in the kitchen today for studio time, and the same will probably apply tomorrow too. Thank you for your good wishes for our health. This cancer was a lot less serious than my first one, only occupying about 5 months of my life, whereas the first one took a whole year! Just clocked up more honourable scars lol!

From circle to square in one piece: love it! I think the grey-ish blue would indeed work better as an accent, but it IS a lovely colour. I love your blogpost but the cartoon at the end made me laugh out loud... I just took the laundry out of the machine and believe it or not: there was just one sock (so where's the other? ReplyDeleteI’m so sorry to read of the loss of a friend, fairly sure they wouldn’t want you losing sleep over your presence at their funeral; you can remember them in many other ways. I can see why it’s called Blustone, it really reminds me of Stonhenge on a bright day! It’s my opinion that it isn’t blue enough for the project, but prolly would make an effective accent. I don’t know what to do about fighting cats…does it help to say that my siblings and I fought a lot until we were proper grown ups?!!
