WOYWW 679 Official OAP

Hi! I’m back again to join in our Wednesday blog hop courtesy of Julia at the Stamping Ground
I officially became an old age pensioner on Sunday. I haven’t got my bus pass yet though! We went out to the very good Duck at Pett Bottom for lunch, and made Bara Brith together (my favourite ‘cake’ - it’s a fruit loaf really as there’s no fat).
Jan sent me a lovely Welsh flag knitting bag:
My other presents weren’t crafted by one of us (eg emerald earrings and an Art Deco-styled bag) so no photos here.
My In a Tizzy blanket is progressing - you can now see how the triangles fit together.

I slowed down because I ordered a tweedy striped yarn I thought would fit nicely. I ordered it on 23 May and paid extra for 1st class post to avoid the Bank Holidays.  Would you believe it still hasn’t arrived? The seller, Yarnland UK, keeps talking about delays at the Post Office and is ignoring my request for a refund grrr. I won’t buy from them again.

Here’s the Duck at Pett Bottom.

It was owned by Ian Fleming’s aunt.

We go through a very pretty village to get there, with lots of thatched cottages, but I could never live there …
It’s called:
LYNSORE BOTTOM.
Can you imagine?🀣

Gracie and Bella send purrs to you all.
And finally…

Take care and happy crafting
Hugs

  1. Definitely not the place for you to live Lynne lol. How annoying regarding the wool - I wouldn't order from them again either. The blanket looks fabulous already though. Meow to the kitties. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #2

  2. Are you getting your state pension now you’re on OAP? The beers are on you then, lol!! I’m so glad you had a good birthday and that the knitting cube bag was ok. The funnies made me smile especially the printer one, they’re the bane of G’s life!

  3. What a funny name for somewhere - hope there are no Lynn's there.
Belated Birthday Greetings to you. Love the bag Jan sent to you and I am sure everything else was lovely too. Including the meal out and the drive to get there.

  4. What a fab bag - Jan is so talented. But oh the place name! Dear me! Belated Happy Birthday and yeah, my yarn tale is sad too, been sent back to the seller. Oh well. I had already bought what I needed when it didn't show up, but still super annoying. Blanket is coming along nicely, can't wait to see the finished item!
    Happy WOYWW to you!

  5. I think my comment disappeared - they do that sometimes πŸ™„. Lovely bag from Jan and great funnies. The village has an unfortunate name, I wonder if there is a story behind that. Happy WOYWW. Angela #5

  7. You're not the only one that has been waiting for something to be delivered by Royal mail. I ordered from a craft store well before the Bank Holiday and it only arrived yesterday. I contacted the company and they said lost of their customers have had stuff delivered late so maybe your order may still arrive. It's still annoying though. Loving the funnies and hugs to the kitties. Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x13x

  8. Congratulations on reaching that milestone. I love the bag Jan sent you and your blanket is coming along beautifully, I can really see the patterning now. The pub looks delightful and I laughed at the name of the village - I wonder what the origin of the name is. Loved the funnies.
Hope you have a great week,

  11. Happy belated birthday. Jan is SO talented. I am in awe. Also in awe of your In a Tizzy blanket. Wonderful.

Had to laugh at the name of that town. Sounds like one you would find in Midsomer Murders. Sort of looks it, too!

Your cats are adorable. Thought the funnies were great as well. This is the second time I've been without electricity in my neighborhood in the past two days. That's why I'm so late visiting. Happy WOYWW from # 1.

  12. Super Dragon Bag - I've not done any Welsh in ages, concentrating on the Hebrew for now, and the Harp, it's a Welsh one so does that count??? Hubby joins you with being a OAP on 2nd July, he retired on 1st June a month early, don't think I'm able to retire from being a housewife but I did get hubby to go do the weekly shop this week and I went back dancing too. Badminton in a min as well, need to get out LOL. Hugs BJ#18
