Hi all,
Here’s my ‘desk’ for this week:
It’s my Welsh flag knitting bag kindly made for me by LLJ. It’s square so it sits very nicely on the arm of my chair. Bella and Gracie have been helping me make the sleeves:
This is one of the pockets. I felt like adding some whimsical detail…
I’m feeling less wobbly so I also made some bara brith. I’ve changed the way I lay out the almonds so it’s easier to cut. It still has to have loads of them on top though ( plus ground and flaked almonds in the mix)!
I still use Felicity Cloake’s Barmbrack recipe as a base but use mixed fruit which includes mixed peel, only 100g sugar, replacing the cherries with chopped dried apricots, 50g of the flour with ground almonds, and 1 Tbs kefir.
Apart from that, I’m enjoying the tennis (US open on Amazon prime) even though all the Brits and Rafa are now out.
And finally…
A message for our politicians:
Take care and happy crafting!
Hugs

Glad you have been feeling more like baking again this week Lynne. The Bara Brith looks delicious. Looks like the kitties have been really helpful with the sleeves lol. Meow to them both. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #2
ReplyDeleteI’m very happy that you’re feeling a bit better and feeling like baking, it looks yummy! I do admire your patience with 4ply, it ain’t ever going to happen with me but the effect is so pretty xx. Love the funnies especially the first one, that made me laugh out loud!
ReplyDeleteThe present hasn’t arrived yet, I will let you know the moment it turns up. Thank you very much for thinking of us!! We’re going out for lunch on Sunday (Rhys’ treat) and will probably go our for the day on Saturday as well, a weekend of celebration xx
Hugs LLJ 4 xx
I love bara brith, used to always cal at the same shop in the middle of the island (|angelsey) when going home from the caravan for a loaf from my favourite shop. I'd tried it from others but it never quite matched up. Interested to read your recipe so thanks for the link.
ReplyDeleteOk, so I will learn patience and hope your needles keep going for the final reveal of the Tizzy. Love the detail you have added to the pocket.
Keep doing the right thing to get yourself back to normal, don't like to think of you being wobbly at all.
Hugs, Neet 6 xx
