Hi all,
I hope you’re all well and keeping warm. It’s gone very cold here.
I’m struggling a bit with the arm reduction on B’s rusty slipover.
The pattern had me decreasing too many at the armpit and left the back too narrow so I’m busking it.
I also had to wind a new ball of the pepper alpaca. Bella has been helping.
I do wish they’d sell it in balls instead of hanks. It worked with using crochet hooks attached to the arms of my chair with elastic bands.
All done! We’ve now started a still life with a book, an orange and a mug. Of course, I used my novel, A Sense For Silver, for the book. It’s a tricky drawing as perspective has to be taken into account.
I bought some more Inktense pencils from a company called Art discounts. There was supposed to be a 5% discount but I couldn’t find the window for the code. Anyway, after a bit of to and fro they gave me the discount retrospectively. They have good prices, if you need anything:https://artdiscount.co.uk/
On Sunday this week, we’ll be selling my novel at a craft fair in Wye. https://www.fighutdesign.co.uk/product-page/wye-village-hall-3-december-2023
Love the latest art Lynne - enjoy the new project and good luck with sales at the weekend. #3 son is doing drawing classes as part of his games design uni course and he finds it challenging. Meow to the kitties. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #3
ReplyDeleteWow Lynne, that bird is fantastic! I look forward to seeing how the still life turns out. The colours in the crochet are really lovely, sorry you’re having to undo and redo though. Having a fab time in Shrewsbury but problems with Blogger on my iPad so not posting today. Catch up next week xx
ReplyDeleteHugs, LLJ xxx
Your drawing is phenomenal, Lynne! You obviously have lots of talent, so nurture it! Kitties look super cute and I laughed out loud at the zebra cartoon! Might have to steal that! Enjoy your week and the countdown to Christmas! xx zsuzsa #7
ReplyDeleteI agree re:hanks vs. balls! What a "helpful" kitty LOL! Is the pattern badly written I wonder, I hate that. I've had a few and not only free ones. Thanks for the funnies - too true about craft supplies...
ReplyDeleteOn the day so YAY!
Mary Anne (5)
It needs patience with those hanks . . . saves money though.
ReplyDeleteLove the craft funny but true!!
have a good week

ReplyDeleteLove the bird….I’d love more time for drawing/painting….maybe one day? I’ve got 8 more memory bears coming before the weekend so it won’t be this week lol. I love the colours of the wool you’re using…well done you for being able to readjust the pattern.

ReplyDeleteI bought your novel on Amazon as an e-book for my Kindle. My Kindle is for "night reading" before I go to sleep and when I wake up in the night. It was very enjoyable!

Mighty impressed at the really neat ball of yarn you created, brilliant. Does the post you did it on have a name? Sorry, read "busking" and imagined you out singing in the street??? I think I must live on another planet LOL. Hugs BJ#12
ReplyDeleteYour charcoal bird is wonderful! And I've never made a ball of yarn as neat as yours...lovely photos of Gracie and Bella! I love that last cartoon! Although it would have been my ancestors in those covered wagons! Have a great week, thanks for your visit! Lindart #16
ReplyDeleteGosh, that slipover has really proved your tenacity! Lovely colours though, despite all the ball making, colour changing , stitch counting and erm, winging it...hope you're enjoying making it, talk about labour of love! Thanks for the link to the art discount place, just saved £17 on a Christmas pressie! And Brilliant you, the bird pic is fantastic! Love that you're us8ng your own novel for the still life, what an amazing thing to be able to do!
ReplyDeleteI can't tell if my comment is waiting to be approved or if I let it disappear! I'm admiring of you tenacity with the slipover, the newer colours are lovely, but the counting, frogging, re-starting...wow, most impressive alynne. Also you probably wind the neatest yarn ball I've ever seen! ,love your control of charcoal, not a medium I've used anywhere but in an art class, the bird is marvellous. And thanks for the art discount link, I've just saved £17 on a Christmas present!
