This week seems to have come round very quickly; I’m not sure where it’s gone. Sending big hugs to LLJ and her G who are feeling poorly with Covid.
I’ve not had much time to try out my new paints apart from following a tutorial by Olga Koelsch on painting transparent flowers. It popped up on facebook and you can see examples here. https://m.youtube.com/@olgakoelsch? Her flowers are very beautiful and delicate. I struggled with making flowers translucent so I thought I’d give it a go.
I’m not completely happy with my results; I should have used a hairdryer between stages. I get the idea though, of using very dilute washes.
Her example is here: My friend, Liz, was judging at the Festival of Quilts last week. I asked her to buy me some sashiko needles. She also came back with a lovely present for me, some Japanese notebooks.
They have one page ruled then one page blank so will be handy for both writing and art! I’m going to Stoke on the train (and replacement bus - 😮💨) on Saturday for a family party on Sunday. It’s my goddaughter’s daughter’s first birthday, my cousin Jon is over from Australia and another cousinette (B’s name for my cousins’ daughters) is emigrating to Australia next week. So lots of travelling to use my new notebooks, and to crochet more squares.
I think I’ve worked out a way to do triangles for the v neck, as well, by doing half c2c squares but I need lots more.
Bella has been a real cutie and sends purrs to you all.
And finally:Take care and happy WOYWW
hugs

Ha ha Nessie formation - brilliant . Lovely artwork and I look forward to how you use your notebooks. The crochet work is lovely. Great colours. x x Jo 🌈
ReplyDeleteThanks for the love, it’s been a funny old week, we are feeling a but brighter but the Covid test is still showing positive immediately…sigh. Thank goodness for the Olympics! I find translucent flowers hard to do as well, it looks so easy on the tutorials but my attempts always turn out murkier. I think I’m a blobber at heart not a delicate sort of gal, as with so much in my life *grin*

What a fab friend and what fab notebooks. I hope you enjoy the party and aren't too sad about the upcoming emigration. Sending everyone a peaceful week, Lisa-Jane #12 www.prettymypage.co.uk
ReplyDeleteLove the funnies and the yarn colours are lovely. Have a fun week! Happy WOYWW ((Lyn))#14
ReplyDeleteGorgeous notebooks! What a good friend. Your crochet is looking great, interested in seeing the triangle method. I've never really made clothes from crochet (well, little cardis and maybe a jumper or two for the kids) so always keen seeing garments that people actually wear to see the drape. I like the watercolour. You are really expanding your skill set!
ReplyDeleteA bit late but Happy WOYWW!

ReplyDeleteSuper translucent flowers love them. Glad you have worked out the triangle it will be invaluable. Glad you like Steampunk, lots more to come this month, yes I'm enjoying doing my own thing and using up lots of lovely free images from the internet. Hugs BJ#8
ReplyDeleteSuch a delicate drawing. All beautifully done. I love flowers and drawing and always think that I ruin mine when I colour, so have been practicing more with ink/pens and always interested in what others use as there are so many mediums for different projects. Wow, your notebook looks very interesting too!
ReplyDeleteYour crochet is looking great too! Enjoy the rest of the weekend Michelle#13
Your painted flower looks lovely! Enjoyed the funniest and love the colours of your crochet!
