WOYWW 799 Zigzags, apples and abstract

UPDATE: I see my Apple project needs a bit of clarification. In week 1 we did the Apple study sheet I showed last week. Then we traced positive and negative shapes and used those to make an abstract collage, shown below. This week we have used the tracing of the collage to make an abstract watercolour painting using colours in light, mid and dark tones from the study sheet. I’ll show that next time. I hope that’s clearer! Lx

Hi all, welcome to our amazing 799th bloghop. Are we doing anything for next week? Here’s my desk.
We used last weeks apple paintings to make shapes in white, brown and black and traced over them.

This week we’ll paint the resulting page, with white representing the lightest apple colours, brown the mid-tones and black the darkest colours to make apple-inspired abstracts. While I wasn’t pleased to be doing collage again, I like where it’s going now.

My zigzag blanket is growing. It’s still a triangle as it’s only about 50” wide yet and needs to be 90” before I do the ‘rectangle’ rows. It’s been my main crafting this week as my migraines have been accompanied by dizziness this week, but better now.

Bella has been supervising, of course and sends you all purrs.

And finally…

As ever, I’ll be commenting later on Wednesday.
Take care and happy WOYWW
Hugs

  1. Lol at the pole dancing grannies. The blanket sounds an interesting construction - C2C, is it? then off one side to make a rectangle? Interesting. My crochet keen knitting friend might be interested... :)
A quick hop before knitting at mine!
    Happy WOYWW.

  2. You really are covering some interesting methods in the art class, it sounds brilliant! I’m loving the colours in your crochet, that’s a big old blanket you’re doing, bet it’s keeping you toasty while you’re making it! Sorry to hear about the dizziness, it’s horrible, I know full well. Hope it doesn’t last long for you 🤞🤞🤞

  4. Sorry to hear about your migraines. Very debilitating. My husband suffered from them.
Thank you for the smiles. I might pinch those funnies and share them on my Friday Smiles blog.

  5. Sorry to hear you have been suffering with migraines. The overbright sunny days were flaring mine up, but who can complain at sunny days! Sounds like your blanket will soon be finished. I crocheted an Afghan years ago and it lasted years ending up with my daughter taking it to her house. I was a bit confused with your art project, are you going to be using the collage as a guide or a base? I am intrigued. Happy WOYWW. Angela #15

  6. I was trying to work out what you are making on your desk, it looks really interesting. I read that you said collage and look forward to see how it develops. Gorgeous Zig Zag blanket too. Have a good woyww. Hugs Angela x13x

  7. Your blanket is coming on a treat and looks so pretty, I've got a small triangular crochet shawl that my friend made for me (who also knits me the fingerless mits) it's great just to pop over my shoulders as I really struggle with my joints. These sort of makes are priceless and so many talented crafters like yourself have multi crafts on the go, Happy Woyww - Michelle #16 x

  8. Oh I'm looking forward to the apple abstract, looking good so far and glad the collage isn't as taxing this time around. As for the Monkey and French it is probably best to watch the Eddie Izzard sketch I linked to on You Tube. The phrase he was trying to include when a) buying a ticket to Paris and b) getting a hotel room was "Le singe est sur la branch" the monkey is in the branch! It had me in stitches. Hugs BJ#11

  9. the blanket is beautiful , and the latest art class sounds interesting. I know a lot of it is down to practice but I think it would take me more years than I have left to get halfway decent at "proper" art!! stamping will do for now.... Hapy WOYWW Helen #2

oh dear, sorry to hear about the migraines, not good, glad they have subsided now and you can get on with your crochet. I don't know where you find your funnies but the turkey one had me in stitches.

  14. Love how the blanket is coming on Lynne. Sorry to be so late visiting this week but I had great difficulty getting my computer to link up with the internet on Wednesday and a busy week at work. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW memories next week.
