WOYWW 877 Twiddling, beading and sun energy.

Hi all, I’m joining in with this week’s bloghop care of Sarah’s Craftshedsending healing hugs to our Neet and others who are unwell.
I’m still laid up, the facial paralysis has abated but I’m exhausted all the time, so I’m just resting.
I’m playing with a new twiddle I got from a free pattern. The author asks that we only link to her paid pattern  on Ravelry:
But if you search for Swirly spiral chicken there’s a free version.
When I make twiddles, they’re to go on a twiddle mitt or similar so they don’t want to be too big. I love this pattern but 3 inches is too large. The pink & yellow one and the blue and yellow one are double knitting  The blue and orange one is 4 ply but still too big so I might have to try and use double crochets instead of trebles etc

I’m still playing with beading and a bit of slow stitching  but nothing much to show yet. I buy things, see they’re the wrong size and send them back. One 2mm bead fits over my needle and another type’s hole is too small. I’m getting there, but slowly.
The sashiko lamé I bought shredded when sewing on felt so no good for my use. Other silks etc are better and Katie from Japan crafts has kindly swapped the lamé for more silk thread. She has a beautiful range of fabrics, threads etc and all things sashiko. Her site is here:
It’s well worth a look.
Felt is a wonderfully forgiving fabric and doesn’t seem to mind being undone, redone at all.
I’m also having a cursed time with electronics. My email login on my laptop went wrong, things wouldn’t save properly, the Google streaming dongle on the telly stopped working and I seem to have broken something on the dishwasher shelf because now neither of us can get it to close. (Our local white goods shop is sending someone out on Friday).
I put it down to the misfortune of being ill. It’s just my turn and I’ll wait it out.
Bella’s giving me lots of cuddles and sends you all purrs.
We just went round to feed our neighbours’s cats. It’s a bit complicated as little Izzy is 16 and on medication that gets mixed with her special food, while the other cat is being distracted with his food. On the way back it was trying to sleet.  Ugh!!
I feel the need of some mystical sun energy at the moment, and I found this sun pendant on Etsy. It’s a copy of an ancient Sumerian pendant, and I love it. I’ve ordered a chain.

The seller’s photo is clearer.

The original would date from around 3000 BCE and I guess it’s from somewhere like Ur of the Chaldeans, (which I always thought was Ur and the Chaldees, sounding like some obscure 60s prog rock band. 🤣)
Time to get out healing amazonite and malachite crystals, too.
And finally…
Especially relevant for me as I’ve had to take steroids again and have put the weight back on I’d lost. 🤬

Happy WOYWW

  1. Working on those small projects seems the way to go as you’re still under the weather, big things would seem too much. The beads and stitching are rather lovely 🥰🥰 I had a look at Japan crafts, think I’ve ordered from them in the past. The Sumerian sun pendant is wonderful! Have you seen Irving Finkel on the British Museum YouTube channel? He’s a Sumerian expert and is really interesting and amusing too, worth a watch.
Hope you start to feel better very soon xxxx

  8. Happy (late, but not too late!) WOYWW! Speaking English indeed. What a hoot. The pendant is lovely, and the spiral chickens are so cute. I wonder if you could still sort out a way to add them, even as a bigger item? Sorry you are still feeling wiped out - so many of us seem to be feeling that way. I think the world is just in so much chaos, and it all just seems like hard work, every day. But hopefully there will be some light soon. And actual SUN - We sure need it!
