Many thanks to all who kindly sent them xxx
Now I'm off the horrible antibiotics which meant I had to stay out of the sun, my desk has moved outside.
I'm still very keen on my watercolour brushes. Thanks for all who were encouraging me last week. I've found pinterest to be very helpful, and am using it to think about how to paint specific things, like the shape of leaves. More on that another week.
Having finished the back of my cardigan, I was just knitting some pocket backs for the fronts and am faced with a quandary. I really like the random self-striped pattern they make - almost Japanese. It would only look like that in these 4" x 4" squares, due to the repeat frequency.
So now I'm not sure whether to undo the stripy back and start again, or try to have these squares on the fronts somehow. Any ideas?
Oh Gosh Lynne, not a clue what I would do with those pockets but it seems such a shame to pull the back almost to bits. I think Jan is the best person to advise you on this as she does work with wool either knitting or crochet. Then there is Margaret, Glitter & Glue who also does knitting. Or Annie (Wipso) - am sure they could come up with some advice.
ReplyDeleteGlad the antibiotics have finished and you can enjoy the good weather - hope you are feeling much better in yourself by now.
Thank you so much for the lovely atc - yours is in the post.
Have a good week, the sun has come out again up north where I am so I must get outside and enjoy it.
Hugs, Neet 13 xx
Yay for antibiotics finishing and being able to sit outside :-D. I hope that they've done the trick and you're feeling a bit more chipper. How lovely to sit at the table and craft, I'm so pleased that you're enjoying using those watercolour brush tip pens.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it interesting how reducing the length of the rows has produced a totally different pattern to the cardi back. I can see the Japanese elements too! It seems a shame to undo all your hard work but on the other hand, you'd enjoy knitting it all back up again. Would a cardi work made out of sewn up squares? Why don't you use the yarn for a different project? A throw for colder months perhaps?

Glad you're able to take advantage of the sun finally and that the antibiotics are finished with. It seems a shame to undo the whole of the back of that cardigan. The pockets on the front would make a great contrast. Happy WOYWW Sarah #22
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Lynne. So glad to hear you are feeling better. Speaking from recent experience, being sick is definitely no fun. Being outside in the sun, painting sounds like a pleasant way to spend the day. Have you seen the painting classes on Annie's Online Classes Daily? They have several to choose from. Scrapbook.com also offers painting classes and most for free.
ReplyDeleteAs to the pocket predicament, that's out of my crafting knowledge. But if you have an extra ATC I'd love to swap with you. Just leave your email in the contact form on my blog and we'll get together. Creative Blessings! Kelly #32
Happy WWOYWW Glad to hear you can enjoy the sunshine again... I love the cardigan it's different and made by you... I think the contrast would look great... Have a happy rest of your week... May #19
ReplyDeleteI like the stripey back of the sweater - what about using the squares for pockets? Or making a hood out of them? Looking forward to seeing what you do with them! I'm glad you are having fun with the watercolors! Thanks for sharing, Lindart #41
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are able to enjoy the sunshine again. That must make you feel better. It's fun exploring brushes isn't it. I treated myself to some really good ones and they do seem to make a difference to what you can achieve.
ReplyDeleteI love all parts of your knitting, so I think whatever you decide will look terrific.
Have a good week

Hi there. Hmmm... you have a difficult choice to make with that cardigan - as you say, that sort of pattern will only work on that number of stitches, the more stitches you have the pattern will change significantly.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to work out in the garden again - enjoy!
Take care. God bless.

Have a super week.

I've been sick lately too, and have also been doing some knitting. I'm not sure what the answer is though, but I do know that if I'm not happy with my knitting I usually have no qualms about ripping it all out.

Ok, Lynne has left the office. 😏 Trying to work from home, plus my powerlinks that give me downstairs wifi failed and have had to be replaced, so no time for visiting yet this week! Why is it that when you spend a fruitless hour with a Helpdesk person not listening to you, it feels like the most wasted hour in history? Anyway, all fixed now.
ReplyDeleteI'm still on antibiotics, just not the ones that keep me out of the sun, as they have to drop the steroids slowly and steroids alone would provoke more infection. I've warned work they make me v snarly and they've basically told me to hide away and work from home till I'm human again.
Thanks all for your encouraging comments and the beautiful ATCs.
I'm actually trying to knit my front up in 3 sections so I can make a sort of windowpane between the original and the new patterns. I don't know if it will work, but we'll see.
Hugs, Lynne x
Hi Lynne , sorry I'm late. I seem to be apologising for this on a regular basis at the moment. Nice collection of ATCs. Love your knitting but if you're not happy with it better to start again than finish it and be unhappy with it later. Happy crafty belated woyww, Angela x21x
ReplyDeleteSounds like a few people have the courage to start afresh!! I think whatever decision you make will still result in a gorgeous project.

Thanks for your visit earlier, amazed by the knitting. I'm not clever with knitting so no help at all but am sure you will find a suitable use.
ReplyDeleteHave a good week
