Copycat WOYWW #418

Hi all, a busy week, this week, as I've started to work from home again, before going back to working in the office in London.

Before the weather broke, I was still painting outdoors, closely supervised by our 2 cats ;-).

My mother-in-law, aged 95, is in  hospital and I want to encourage her to try with the physio, or she won't walk again, so here's a card I made for her, copying Dino (and making him look a little more dynamic ;-)

It was my birthday on Monday, so Brian and I went up to London to the Hokusai exhibition at the British Museum. http://www.britishmuseum.org/whats_on/exhibitions/hokusai.aspx

My new favourite painting is the waterfall, below - the water looks so vigorous. We then had a long, lazy Italian lunch and came home.

On the knitting front, I'm trying to incorporate both patterns by making a sort of windowpane on the front - maybe a few at the bottom and a few near the top? I don't know, I'll see how it goes and how much patience I have for unravelling the inevitable snarls.

My grandfather's peonies, which are supposed to flower on my birthday,  had flowered early this year, the story of that is found here:
http://lmcollis.blogspot.co.uk/2009/05/peonies-on-my-birthday.html

That's all for this week, have a great week, all! Hugs, Lynne xxx

  5. So much to look at Lynne! The peonies are wonderful, I hope yours were better protected from the rain than ours, the weather breaking was quite savage wasn't it! Love the rendition of Dino, you're a clever stick. Hope your Ma in law sees the value in being a bit agile...my Mum is in a home and the sedentary residents don't seem to do anything, worries me!

    1. Thanks, Julia son, ours got battered down as well. I hope, but I'm afraid she'll end up in a nursing home as well. I know from when I broke my arm and ankle how quickly you lose muscle tone if you don't move. have a good week, hugs, Lynne xxx

  6. I shed tears when I read the post you linked "peonies on my birthday"... so beautiful!. Maybe you have a sign that you should start celebrating your birthday early this year? :)

I can see what you mean about the waterfall - it's almost like the water is rooting to the ground... amazing :)

    Have a great Wednes-YAY!

  7. Oh Lynne, I had to laugh at your comment about getting you ATC the right way up as when I first photographed the 6 of them this morning and even posted it to my blog I had got one upsidedown!! It wasn't yours and just a silly mistake which I quickly changed. Thanks for the visit BJ#17

    1. Thanks, I hope so too, but she is 95 and I can understand the difficulty. She's in Wales about 200m away so it's not as if we can be there all the time. My sister in law is near her. Thanks and have a good week, hugs,Lynne x

  14. Sorry I'm late visiting. My internet was down for nearly two days, but I'm back now and here to wish you a belated happy birthday. Seems I'm really running behind this week!

Love the exhibit photo you shared and the gorgeous peony. Mine bloomed back in April, so your weather is much different from mine. Bleubeard gives two paws up for your awesome cat painting. It is beautiful. Happy belated WOYWW from #5.

  16. Fabulous post,
Sorry for the delay in commenting, laptop trouble. It's died on me and I'm in a bit of a flap.
On a positive note, my Dear Husband plans to buy a replacement for me.

  17. When I chatted with LLJ about joining WOYWW, I did check there was no compulsion to post or visit EVERY week, so I don't think anyone needs to apologise for not posting or visiting. I find it nice to visit and see comments, but no way am I ever going to get round everyone every week, so no need to apologise to me either! hugs, Lynne xxx

Your sweater is coming along quite nicely, I must say. I really like your color choices.
