I went for my covid vaccine on Saturday and saw that the nurses were wearing over- the- ear masks. I gave the nurse with me an ear saver I’d crocheted and she was so pleased as her ears hurt wearing a mask all day. I made ear savers in the first lockdown so I’m making more now for the vaccination team. They’re easy to crochet if you need one.
Here’s the pattern.
Sorry I didn’t join in last week. I lost my mother’s wedding ring that I’ve worn since she died two years ago. I turned the house upside down and then we borrowed a metal detector and checked my last outside walk. It was very muddy and I slipped and cracked a rib.
I still haven’t found it; my husband has bought me a Welsh gold one from Clogau to console me It says Cariad inside, Welsh for Darling
I’m still sad about my Mum’s ring, but not tearing my hair out.
Thanks to Storm Darcy, the parts of the path we couldn’t do are now under snow, so I’m not sure we’ll ever find it.
Here’s a photo from the window- I’m definitely not risking slipping again until my rib heals!
When Thea isn’t radiator worshipping she comes to see me. She can get too keen on rubbing my glasses. 😏
She’s still very cute though.
By the way, is anyone else enjoying the BBC Bitesized schools programmes in the afternoon? They’re doing Shakespeare this week and I’m find it really interesting, as I rest and try to recover from my rib fracture.
J
And finally....
Stay warm, safe and happy WOYWW
Hugs Lynne

ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your fall and resulting cracked rib. Yes, rest is all you need right now - and to get it better.
No worries about my mums ring, it is firmly stuck on my finger, can't remove it even with soapy water, hope you do find yours - it might turn up in the most unlikely of places.
Thea is so cute.
Hugs, Neet 6 xx
Hopefully Lynne when snow melts and your rib heals a walk might find your mums ring, I’ve had a sentimental item an earring lost in the the whole of our botanic gardens be found, I pray God willing it may turn up too, in the meantime enjoy your hubby’s gift and heal up that broken rib... ouch they hurt.
ReplyDeleteThanks for Sharing, God bless and keep you safe, and all those you love, hugs Shaz in Oz.x

I know it’s not your mum’s ring but what a beautiful reminder that Clogau gold ring is, I hope it brings you some comfort. I’m glad your taking things gently and hope that your rib isn’t causing you too much pain. Sending gentle hugs!

Oh goodness, what an upset?! I've not done it myself but I've heard that ribs are the nastiest things to break because you can't avoid moving them when you breathe. I hope you've got good painkillers. Have you tried Facebook for your ring? We often have things lost and relocated or found and delivered on our local pages. Possibly also a laminated sheet at the start of the area you couldn't search so that people can keep an eye out when the snow melts. We've had virtually none here so far. Definitely (gentle!) hugs all around today, Lisa-Jane #10
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your mum's wedding ring, I do hope it turns up, and I hope your rib heals quickly. The blanket is looking fabulous, I just love those soft earthy colours.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good week and take things easy,

ReplyDeleteMorning Lynne. Oh bless you - it's so horrid when you lose something that is precious. I hope you find it eventually. What a lovely hubby to by you Welsh gold and put that gorgeous Welsh greeting inside. I always called my grandies Cariad - they loved it. Hope your rib soon heals. They can be very painful if you try to laugh :-( Rest sounds a great idea!! That blanket is just gorgeous - I love the colours.
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.

What a lovely kitty - just adorable! My son should be watching those Shakespeare lessons. He watches all sorts of rubbish on YT but I can't get him to watch anything educational! Those cartoons are priceless LOL! Have a lovely week - zsuzsa #24
ReplyDeleteso sorry to hear about your fall and cracked rib, and especially about your mother's ring. It is so hard when you lose something so sentimentally precious. I love your husbands gift for you. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#20)
ReplyDeleteLynne, first off, so, so sorry about your fall and cracked rib!! I have been there several times and it seems like it takes FOREVER to heal! Of course it's in the worst place to continuously get bumped *ouch* and then to have to use, therefore making it difficult to heal more quickly! You be safe and heal quickly! Second, my heart goes out to you about your mum's ring!!! I can only imagine! But then that sweet hubby of yours, goodness!!! I accidentally gave away my great grandmother's cameo brooch in a rummage sale and I will NEVER EVER forget it! My heart still hurts about that! I hope you do find it!! Blessings to you and stay safe! Felicia, #30
ReplyDeleteThe metal detector was such a good idea Lynne, I’m so sorry about the ring, it’s a stomach lurching moment when you realise and then just masses of frustration each time you think about it. And then....oh your poor rib. They really are so difficult, there’s no good position to put yourself in for a while, I do feel for you. Suspect that the blanket will be finished quite quickly because rest is very much the nature of your coming days.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about your lost ring and your fall! what a mess ~ I hope it turns up for you soon. What a nice gift to give the workers ~ I need to find some for my masks :) Rest and heal quickly
ReplyDeleteSorry about your ring, I hope it does turn up. You must be sore after your fall, sending you get well wishes. Happy WOYWW Angela #12
ReplyDeleteOh Lynne, poor you. I am so sorry you have broken a rib, and especially sorry about the ring too. I recently lost my great-grandmother's wedding ring and I know exactly how you must be feeling about it. The ring from your hubby is very precious. We used to have Welsh neighbours when I was growing up, and they had a cat called Cariad and I learnt then what it meant. I do hope your rib will heal up quickly and that you will soon be out of pain. So miserable for you.
ReplyDeleteYour cat crochet is so beautiful - I love all the colours! Cat stitch is so much fun - thank you for introducing it to me.
Happy WOYWW,

Hi Lynne, I think the ring will turn up when you least expect it, that's what usually happens to me. You must love your cat very much because that is a gorgeous blanket. We've been for the vaccination today and it went well, they were very organised and no queues so very relaxed too. Have a lovely creative woyww, Angela x18x
