Firstly I’m so sorry to hear about Shaz Silvetwolf losing her fight against cancer. I didn’t know her well, but she taught me always to include a joke even when times are tough. Hugs to all who knew her and are missing her.....💖💖
My nostepinne has had a lot of use this week, winding more yarn for my cat stitch wrap. Centre pull balls of yarn are so much more well behaved!
My “desk” is mainly in this tin mug, a collection of crochet hooks, scissors and pencils. It’s usually over spilling 😏
At the moment, I also have a “button desk” as I’m making more mask adapters for our local vaccination centres. It’s easy to crochet them; sewing of buttons takes the most work.
I’m still hunting for my Mum’s ring. It makes me feel very sad and guilty to think I’ve lost it but part of me thinks it’s still somewhere in the house. My wool is now sorted and in vacuum bags.

I forgot to add in our own mini adventure this week
We get our shopping delivered from Sainsbury’s. They often run out of odd stuff at present. If it’s not Brexit it’s the snow. On Friday night we got a call to say we wouldn’t get a delivery at all as the van was stuck about 4 miles away in a hamlet on top of the Downs. We said we’d come and get it. I went with B to help with navigation. It was scary how much more snow had drifted up there and we had to try a few routes before we got there. The van was stuck at the bottom of a little lane so we stopped at the top and he brought the shopping to us. We’re only a couple of hundred feet ASL but it’s happened a lot this past week. He had to wait for a traction unity to pull him out. No one has hessian sacks to put under the wheels these days!
One van was reputed to be stuck in Paddlesworth for a few days! I wonder if they let people take the food?

I like the fact that you’re continuing the And Finally tradition, the sheep one made me hoot! The nostepinne really does make a satisfyingly neat ball of yarn, doesn’t it? Well done for doing all the mask extenders, it’s good to be able to do something useful isn’t it? G is having his jab tomorrow btw, hooray!

I can imagine that pot of everything holds all the right tools just for you Lynne. I do hope they van driver was able to eat the food, those delivery drivers have keep many a folk fed and watered during these hard times.

re the stuck van - of course some of the food could go off - I wonder if they informed the driver to give it away to someone? Interesting thought!

I love your cat stitch wrap, Lynne - such a fun stitch and such beautiful yarn. It was you who introduced me to the nostepinne - something I had never heard of before! It's a clever idea. I've watched quite a few videos since, and people even use the middles of kitchen rolls to wind yarn! My little cone winder does a good job but the hole in the middle is a bit big. I agree that centre pull balls are the best - they stay put! Always good when there are kitties about, although our two are really too darn lazy to play with my wool! What a saga with the Tesco van... We've had hardly any snow here. Great funnies, especially the sheep one hahaha!! I always enjoy it when people post funnies, and Shaz was a past master at it. I am going to miss her greatly - she was such a good friend and support to me through my cancer.
ReplyDeleteThank you for commenting on my last week's blog post, and I'm glad you enjoyed my funny! Also the kitties - endlessly entertaining. Poor little Thea - they do really grieve. She needs lots of cuddles and attention which I am sure you are both giving her. When Bella was killed, Beatrice (her sister) sat by the cat flap for two whole days and it was heartbreaking. Later, when we lost Phoebe, Beatrice broke her little heart and gave up the will to live. She was a very old kitty though and didn't have the strength to go on. She died 3 weeks after Phoebe. Then we entered that awful period of being sans-cat until we found Lily and Ruby on the Internet and the rest is history.
If you visit my this week's blog post you will see that the blender problem is now resolved! Phew.

Lynne, I am still in love with your throw! Those colors are simply gorgeous and totally my pallet!! I don't crochet, I knit, so I TOTALLY understand what you mean about the center pull balls of yarn! It it turns out to be not a center pull, I get so frustrated and have that yarn everywhere!! LOL I so hate you still haven't come up with the ring! So sad. I am sure you have thought about his already, but what about in your yarn bins. If you are wrapping and unwrapping balls and skeins, maybe it got caught up in there somehow? Just a thought! I just know those vaccination centers are over the moon with your mask adapters. Such a blessing for them I know! Your "and finally's" are hysterical...love! I do agree that the ball tends to stay put when unwound from the middle - otherwise it tends to be a chase around the lounge! I'm sorry you haven't found the ring yet - I do hope your feeling is right - that it is somewhere in the house. Great mask adapters! Folk who have to wear the masks all day must be so very grateful to you. I just LOVE the sheep funny! Hysterical.

Thanks for revisiting, Lynne. I'm OK reall - just my ME. My sleep is all over the place worse than usual at the moment which isn't helping, and since recovering from my cancer several years ago, I seemed to have lost my ability to pace myself and tend to boom and bust, which is a very bad strategy for energy management!! I never learn... I was more angry than stressed with the blender people, but I am sure it was Sarah's suggestion that I threatened them with Trading Standards that eventually did the trick! Anyway, it's now working and will serve as a spare.
ReplyDeleteWhat a business with your grocery delivery. Your mention of hessian sacks to go under the wheels made me smile and brought back fond memories of my dad, who always had his manky bit of old black carpet and a shovel in the boot of his car! I remember us getting stuck in mud as well as snow. My uncle used to take a whole Arctic survival kit with him even in the summer - he was a great outdoor type and went by the Boy Scouts' "Be Prepared!" principle, so much so that it was a family joke.
I'm glad you enjoyed my Valentine card, and also the old cross stitch designs. It was fun digging them out again, and I was so pleased to be able to help that lady out with the design. Very flattering to be asked.

ReplyDeleteI started off okay today with the visits, walked dogs and went into the cabin and now I don't know where the time went to! Shaz will never have really left us because her blog will keep her alive for us and I can tell you it wont be the last time I pop over there for some ideas when I get stuck, God Bless her. There’s something very nice about a ‘proper’ ball of wool, and I agree about the centre feedness of it. Your mug collection of hooks and bits makes me smile...I now have four in my workroom, filled with a GKW selection that I haven’t used for I don’t know how long, because I’m not working in there. Time to brace myself and have a clear? Probably, but I’ll find something else to do before that...! The mask adapters are brilliant work Lynne, you deserve a medal, I wonder how many you’ve done by now. I made one for my Ma In Law because she wears hearing aids and they always always get snagged and come out and then get dropped on mask removal. But, as is the way, she doesn’t like to use the adapter because it might squash her hair. Seriously, I give up. You can lead a horse to water.....!!!
