I’m still very sad about Thea but we are getting ready to be adopted by two new ladies.
I am crocheting a cushion cover. It grows quickly in C2c stitch, from this:
To this. It is in these quiet colours to make a cushion to go inside the base of this:
The ladies who will be adopting us are Bella (aged 4)
And Casey (aged7).
We’re not sure of the familial relationship, but they came together to the rescue shelter. Bella is confident but Casey is timid yet so we’ll need to take it slowly with her. She might appreciate a hidey hole, hence the cat tree.
They can’t come to us until about 20 July when they’ll have had their 2nd vaccine so I go up to see them most days, give them treats and read to them from Old Possums Book of practical cats. Bella looks at me eyes wide when I tell her of Mephistopheles and Macavity!
We also had the finale of the Lyminge festival last weekend. There was a great quilting show, a report of which can be found via this link.
Our friend Liz is the organiser and made many of the quilts. I adore this silk cushion she made
We also had displays of Anglo Saxon crafts, a ship and battles though we missed them as we went for our (very nice) wedding anniversary lunch. The rope making was interesting and the dyeing techniques.
And finally…
Stay safe and happy crafting!
Hugs

I bet you can't wait until Casey and Bella are home with you Lynne. My parents adopted three cats together - mum aged 2 and her two kittens aged 6 months - they are so settled after a year - even the mum who was very nervous when she first arrived home with them. The festival looks as if it was very interesting. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #6
ReplyDeletehope your new guests settle in when they arrive! Great that the festival could go ahead and Liz's cushion is gorgeous. Helen #8
ReplyDeleteTwo delightful cats, both so pretty and how lovely that you are having the two of them. I've been watching your photos on FB with them. I am sure they will settle very quickly with you, especially for the story times.
ReplyDeleteShame you missed some of the events at the festival but it sounds as if you saw some interesting things anyway. Love that cushion too - so rich.
Hugs, Neet 11 xx
Happy WOYWW. I am so excited that you are going to be bringing Bella and Casey into your home. Our Milky is 14 now and showing increasing signs that all is not well physically with her. If/when we adopt again, I think we would get at least a pair of bonded cats. I always love to see cats that enjoy each other's company. We had a group of 3 on the farmyard for many years. Ali x #12
ReplyDeleteThea will always be close to your heart Lynne but what a loving family Bella and Casey will have, you'll be able to care for each other, so lovely. The cushion will be a comfy addition to that cat scratcher home. Glad you was able to catch some of the festival, it looks very interesting, i'd have loved to have seen those activities myself.
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself & Happy WoywW Tracey #9 x
Lots of things to make me happy today! Those beautiful cats are gorgeous and will have the best life when they finally come home xx. The cat tower is fantastic and a lovely comfy cushion will help Casey, I’m sure. Then there’s that gorgeous patchwork cushion made by your friend, glorious colours, just in your favourite palette! And the Pandor’as Inbox made me hoot….how many dreadful things are unleashed on the world bu people clicking a link…….

Your crochet is looking lovely - I love your yarn, such calming soft colours. Bella and Casey are gorgeous and I love that you read the Practical Cats stories to them. The cat tree is certainly 5 star living - what lucky little girls they are.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a good week,
Diana xx #17
I got Squiggles at the shelter, so I know you are going to love both Bela and Casey even more once they are safely in your home. That is a lovely cushion cover.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos from your festival, too. Those cat jokes were hilarious. Happy WOYWW from #2.
The answer to the last cartoon is Yes it can! Love the cat cartoon. I don’t know what a C2C stitch is, but your cushion looks great. I don’t know any crochet stitches apart from double, half treble and treble. Your new ladies are beautiful and I love that you go and read to them, what a wonderful way to introduce yourself x Angela #3
ReplyDeleteNew family members, bet you can't wait for them to arrive. The cat on the computer made me smile as my friend's cat used to do that all the time and it's surprising which buttons they can manage to press. Stan likes to sit next to you and press the buttons when you're working on the laptop so obviously dogs can be naughty too! Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x18x
ReplyDeleteOh, I didn't know about Thea! Of corse you're upset - even I'm upset! But now Bella and Casey will get a lovely home - they're so lucky! It's endearing how you visit them every day and read to them. Looking forward to seeing more of them when they're with you! I bet you're counting back the days! Hopefully, they'll appreciate the cat tree and the cushion. Oreo uses his occasionally, and we all get excited about it "he's in his cat tree!" LOL. Have a lovely week! xx zsuzsa #22
ReplyDeleteOh Lynne, I am so happy to hear that two new kitties are on their way to you! Bella and Casey look adorable, and they could be sisters from their appearance. We had a Bella - she was our old Beatrice's sister and I loved that kitty to distraction - she was killed outside our house on the road before she even reached her second birthday. Beatrice sat by the cat flap for 2 solid days waiting for her to come home and it was simply dreadful to watch. Bella was a special kitty and the name will always be special to me because of her. May your two new girlies bring you much joy! They can never replace Dino and Thea, of course, but somehow one always has more love to give, and it's different for each one. My hubby and I go back a long way and have many kitties in our past that are still part of our ongoing little family. The crochet cushion to go in the cat tree will be a comfort for shy Caey, I am sure. I hope those kitties will realise how fortunate they are to be going to such a loving home!

I love your two funnies this week! We had problems with Beatrice the Computer Queen typing in various passwords too, but they never got anywhere, fortunately!
Well Casey and Bella look like lovely cats, they do look like each other so maybe they are related. They have very beautiful eyes. It's lovely that you are getting prepared for their arrival. Happy WOYWW! Elle #24, EOTC
ReplyDeleteWhat fun, great photos. Thanks for the visit, playing catch up, we were gone 2 days and time flies by. I love that people have more than 1 cat. These 2 are so pretty, and they'll adjust to all your love and enjoy each other. Our 11yr old still misses his brother, he's become more verble and loves the attention, but he is doing well alone. Have a great weekend again already !!!
ReplyDeleteHi Lynne, I thought I'd commented on this post but it doesn't seem to be there... I am so glad you are adopting two lovely new girlies! It is so sweet that you visit them and read to them! I am sure you can't wait to get them home. I remember how we waited impatiently until our two were old enough to come. We had a Bella (Beatrice's sister, who was killed on the road outside our old house before she was even 2 years old) - I loved that kitty so much and it broke my heart to lose her. The new crochet cushion will be a great comfort for them, I am sure.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit and for your good wishes for tomorrow. All systems go now!
Happy belated WOYWW,
Shoshi x #19
Hope the cats settle in nicely for you. The crochet looks fab - you make it sound so easy!! xx Jo
ReplyDeleteBella and Casey look lovely and I am sure they will soon get comfortable with you after all the visiting you have been doing. Sorry I'm so late this week - it's chaos here as usual! Happy belated WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#15)
ReplyDeleteThanks for popping by to my workspace Lynne - Oh my those eyes - Bella & Casey are just gorgeous - Have a great week - Maurs xxx #21
ReplyDeleteI am afraid I am very late this week but hope to get around everyone...
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your new ladies!
Thank you for the visit to mine! As I only use alcohol ink in the spinner it doesn't get too messy - just the spinner gets inky and great fun! I saw some more spinners in the charity shops so now my daughter and I have a couple each. Always a problem where to store these things!
Yes it is a Van Gogh. A favourite - but we saw many others that I like - Degas, Manet, Monet, Sisley, Pisarro...
Happy WOYWW!
