WOYWW 756 Rusty crochet and art classes

Hi all,
I hope you’re all well and keeping warm. It’s gone very cold here.
I’m struggling a bit with the arm reduction on B’s rusty slipover.

The pattern had me decreasing too many at the armpit and left the back too narrow so I’m busking it.

I also had to wind a new ball of the pepper alpaca. Bella has been helping.

I do wish they’d sell it in balls instead of hanks. It worked with using crochet hooks attached to the arms of my chair with elastic bands.
All done!

At art class we did charcoal drawings of birds.

We’ve now started a still life with a book, an orange and a mug. Of course, I used my novel, A Sense For Silver, for the book. It’s a tricky drawing as perspective has to be taken into account.

We’ll be doing more work on it on Thursday, our last class of the term.
I bought some more Inktense pencils from a company called Art discounts. There was supposed to be a 5% discount but I couldn’t find the window for the code. Anyway, after a bit of to and fro they gave me the discount retrospectively. They have good prices, if you need anything:https://artdiscount.co.uk/

On Sunday this week, we’ll be selling my novel at a craft fair in Wye. https://www.fighutdesign.co.uk/product-page/wye-village-hall-3-december-2023

WOYWW 755 Rusty crochet, Inktense and books

Hi all,
I’ve been working on my rusty slipover this week, with help from  Bella and Gracie..

They both send purrs to you all.

At art class I finished my sea cave painting in Inktense pencils:
I’m pleased with it.
Last weekend we stood market on both Saturday and Sunday, selling my novel, a Sense for Silver. We had good sales but it was tiring. If you’ve read it and liked it, could you put a review on Amazon please? Diana wrote a lovely one, thanks so much xx

At the craft market on Saturday we were opposite a stall that sells painted leather hats. I fell for this one but it was too small.(Just as well as it would have cost all our profits!) I’ll mention it for a character in my next book!

WOYWW 754 Rusts and blacks

Hi all, sorry if I didn’t get around everyone last week. I’ll try and do better!
I was quite down after last Thursday’s art class. Our tutor had us copying these wonderful sea cave paintings by Sarah Adams.

Many of the class were using charcoal but she said I could try with my Inktense pencils. I just couldn’t get the black dark enough and thought I’d have to start again.
I watched a video today on Derwent’s site and understood that to get more intense colours, I have to use a palette, mix the colours with a brush then layer them.
I’m happier with my painting now and will do more to it this week.

It seemed a shame to work in black and white when she has all those gorgeous colours in the rock.
I’ve also restarted a crochet slipover which was in my WIP pile from 2 years ago.

It had come up too small and then I got distracted…
In the meantime Malabrigo has discontinued the gingery colour. Grrrr!
I carefully frogged the piece and found I had more of the pepper alpaca but not the ginger wool.
Plan B: I’ve bought a few different rusty colours and I’ll do the woollen stripes in the different colours I have. At least it’s one less abandoned WIP!
Here’s Gracie helping me.
She and Bella send purrs to you all.

This Saturday we’re selling my novel at a local fair.

We’re in a marquee so I hope the weather won’t be too bad! 🤞🏻🤞🏻☔️
And finally…

WOYWW 753 blanket & poppies

Hi all,
I hope you’re all keeping well as the November weather turns wetter and colder.
I’ve finished my baby blanket for my goddaughter’s new baby and just need to wash it before sending it off.
I hope they like it!
A call went out to make red, white and purple poppies for our village wreath so I ve made a few:

Gracie has been helping:
Bella’s been sleeping through it all.
On Thursday I’ll be hoping to get back to drawing class - last week I stayed home because of the storm - There was only one route out that wasn’t blacked with trees down and that might have been blocked by the time I got back.
And finally…

I’ve a hospital visit on Wednesday morning so I’ll be commenting later.
Take care and happy WOYWW
