WOYWW 612 craft challenge

Hi all, Here we are for our weekly peek at each other’s crafts and work desks.

I’ve just received some nice new buttons from www.thebuttonshack.co.uk, including some extras she kindly sent me as I’m making the mask adapters for our vaccination centres.
My cat stitch shawl is progressing. I think I’ve made it too wide, but the wool is very unforgiving and won’t frog (undo), so I can’t correct it.

If you don’t know knitting or crochet, frogging might seem strange but it comes
Cat stitch shawl wip

from the sound of frogs, as in “ribbit” or rip it....

I’m making it as a pocket shawl with a back, two fronts (and two pockets).

Thea still needs lots of cuddles, which can make it difficult to see the TV at times, but never mind.

And finally.....

Stay safe

WOYWW 611 Wool and masks

Hi, here we are again for our Wednesday peek at what we’re all up to, courtesy of Julia at The Stamping Ground
Firstly I’m so sorry to hear about Shaz Silvetwolf losing her fight against cancer. I didn’t know her well, but she taught me always to include a joke even when times are tough. Hugs to all who knew her and are missing her.....💖💖

My nostepinne has had a lot of use this week, winding more yarn for my cat stitch wrap. Centre pull balls of yarn are so much more well behaved!

My “desk” is mainly in this tin mug, a collection of crochet hooks, scissors and pencils. It’s usually over spilling 😏

At the moment, I also have a “button desk” as I’m making more mask adapters for our local vaccination centres. It’s easy to crochet them; sewing of buttons takes the most work.

I’m still hunting for my Mum’s ring. It makes me feel very sad and guilty to think I’ve lost it but part of me thinks it’s still somewhere in the house. My wool is now sorted and in vacuum bags.
Thea is still missing Dino, we think. She calls for us at odd times - she never used to mew at all.
Anyway, stay safe, all. And finally.....

Hugs
Lynne

I forgot to add in our own mini adventure this week
We get our shopping delivered from Sainsbury’s. They often run out of odd stuff at present. If it’s not Brexit it’s the snow. On Friday night we got a call to say we wouldn’t get a delivery at all as the van was stuck about 4 miles away in a hamlet on top of the Downs. We said we’d come and get it. I went with B to help with navigation. It was scary how much more snow had drifted  up there and we had to try a few routes before we got there. The van was stuck at the bottom of a little lane so we stopped at the top and he brought the shopping to us. We’re only a couple of hundred feet ASL but it’s happened a lot this past week. He had to wait for a traction unity to pull him out. No one has hessian sacks to put under the wheels these days!
One van was reputed to be stuck in Paddlesworth for a few days! I wonder if they let people take the food?
Stay safe all! Lx

WOYWW 610 Cats, ear savers and recuperating

Hi, here’s my craft work for this week. I’m progressing with my cat blanket:

I went for my covid vaccine on Saturday and saw that the nurses were wearing over- the- ear masks. I  gave the nurse with me an ear saver I’d crocheted and she was so pleased as her ears hurt wearing a mask all day. I made ear savers in the first lockdown so I’m making more now for the vaccination team. They’re easy to crochet if you need one.

Here’s the pattern.

Sorry I didn’t join in last week. I lost my mother’s wedding ring that I’ve worn since she died two years ago. I turned the house upside down and then we borrowed a metal detector and checked my last outside walk. It was very muddy and I slipped and cracked a rib.
I still haven’t found it; my husband has bought me a Welsh gold one from Clogau  to console me  It says Cariad inside, Welsh for Darling
I’m still sad about my Mum’s ring, but not tearing my hair out.
Thanks to Storm Darcy, the parts of the path we couldn’t do are now under snow, so I’m not sure we’ll ever find it.
Here’s a photo from the window- I’m definitely not risking slipping again until my rib heals!

When Thea isn’t radiator worshipping she comes to see me. She can get too keen on rubbing my glasses. 😏

She’s still very cute though.

By the way, is anyone else enjoying the BBC Bitesized schools programmes in the afternoon? They’re doing Shakespeare this week and I’m find it really interesting, as I rest and try to recover from my rib fracture.

And finally....

Stay warm, safe and happy WOYWW
Hugs Lynne

Devastated

Sorry I won’t be joining in this week. I have worn my Mum’s wedding ring since she died two years ago.
On Sunday I woke up to see it was gone. I don’t know where or when. I feel like I lost her all over again. I can’t sleep for beating myself.
I’m tearing the house upside down but gave t found it yet. We’ve redone my most recent walks and yes I have checked gloves and pockets.
It is such an insignificant thing compared to what others are going through but
Sorry.
