Hi all, back again for our weekly blog hop, courtesy of Julia at the Stamping Ground. Here’s my desk.
I haven’t really done much crafting this week, apart from carrying on with my cat stitch pocket shawl.
I’m deep into my writing projects. My novel is progressing, my creative writing class has started up again and I m entering a short story competition. Anyone can enter this.
The link is here if you want to have a go:
On the left of my desk is my writing notebook and my left-handed Lamy fountain pen. I wrote on my pc all my working life but creativity is better for me in ink. I also have a little notebook by my bed, so sometimes text gets transferred from the bedside notebook to my main writing notebook before it gets onto my laptop. It seems crazy but it helps me edit. A friend, Anna, tipped me off about writing when I first wake up. Sometimes I have my best ideas then.
Thea insists on having milk in a bowl on the bed every morning, and stays up there for most of the day, as it’s still quite cold.
Here’s a brief visit downstairs for treats.
Stay safe and have a good week
Hugs

I’m so pleased that the writing is progressing well and that you’re enjoying it. I think writing with a fountain pen is one of life’s simple pleasures, I don’t write a lot these days, it’s all type. Thea is obviously enjoying the high life, Ron says Mrrrow. The And Finally pics made me hoot, especially the cat one!!

I don't blame you for concentrating on the blanket those yarns are to die for! Good luck with the story and loving the funnies too. Oh and don't blame your kitty either for staying in, very sensible kitty. Have a very happy and creative woyww. Hugs, Angela x17x
Still laughing after the final pictures. I love writing with a good pen, it seems to improve my writing as well. I prefer to type now, rather than write. It makes the process of getting my thoughts down much easier. I expect the fact that my hand objects to holding the pen after a while has something to do with it too. Glad your writing is progressing. Happy WOYWW and have a great week Angela #9
Good luck with the writing competition Lynne. Have you seen the TV series Warehouse 13. H. G. Wells is a female character in one of the later seasons. Meow to Thea. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #7
My writing definitely flows when I use pen and paper but I can't write quick enough with my fountain pen - I'm a Bic Biro fan! Glad to hear things are moving along with the writing. Stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #8
Just chuckling at your "best ideas when you get up" bit. I always seem to get my best ideas when I awake suddenly at about 3 am. If I don't scribble them down they have gone by the morning! The shawl below looks wonderful. xx Jo
I bought a Lamy pen in an attempt to improve my writing - years of typing have screwed my handwriting completely. I can't seem to get on with it though. Sigh. I hope you are doing better than me!! Have a good week, stay safe, stay well, love n hugs Cindyxx #12
Good luck with your writing. Love the idea of using a proper fountain pen. Happy WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro x (#15)
Glad your writing is going well! great funnies! Helen #2
Well, aren't you the talented one, Lynne! A writer, too! I hope it goes really well. I've got a fountain pen somewhere and always used to enjoy using it but do so little actual writing these days as I'm nearly always on the computer, and grab a biro for other stuff. At school we weren't allowed to use biros because they said they ruined your handwriting! Most of mine are freebies from reps at ileostomy days. I'm really looking forward to seeing you modelling the cat stitch shawl. I just love those colours... I thought our kitties were spoilt, but milk in bed? Lol! Thea certainly has got you wrapped around her little claw, hasn't she. I haven't told our kitties about this because I don't want to set a precedent. I love your funnies this week - I've got the first one saved from when I first saw it.
Thank you for your 2 comments - I saved that video with the knot instructions a while back, and have used it, but recently I had one come undone and haven't had the confidence to use it since! When working with 2 colours (which is what I do most of the time), I weave every stitch, and when there are ends, I just pick them up and weave them along with the other yarn so it's no hardship. Kaffe Fassett's famous catch phrases are "use manageable lengths" and "work in your ends" (as you go) and of course, "when in doubt, add 40 more colours"! I've lived by those catch phrases with my knitting for years! The "2 balls of wool" method is part of his Persian Poppy instructions, so yes, got it from him, and can't claim to have invented such a clever idea myself.
Several years ago there was a Kaffe Fassett exhibition at the American Museum in Bath, and my hubby took me. I had the most wonderful day just soaking up his fabulous designs and colours. You can see the pictures here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/12780076@N05/albums/72157647509098498 if you are interested. It's an absolute feast. I have got several of his books, one of which my hubby gave me for my birthday while we were on our honeymoon in 1986, and I've got some videos too. I'm a great fan.
Very sorry to hear about your cluster headaches. I've heard that these can be absolutely agonising. I hope the new medication is helping. I suffered very badly with migraines in my 20s and 30s (throwing up, lying in a darkened room etc) and then more or less grew out of them, but they came back with the menopause, although less severely and somewhat different in character. I've never had one that caused me to feel faint before and it was pretty scary!
I've got a really nice case for my pens but it's quite big. https://shoshiplatypus.com/woyww-557-pens/
I was interested in Julia's because I have to confess to having a bit of a bag fetish lol! I had a friend (now sadly dead from cancer a few years ago) who used to tease me endlessly about my various "baggies" for things! I love the look of yours, with space for other things too. I might just get tempted... I'm glad Brian is such a champion, defending the safety of your poor bags!
Happy WOYWW,

Am excited for you, creativity in the form of writing is an ultimate if you ask me! I like the method too, I think anything that then becomes a part of the editing process can only be a good thing, for that part of writing can be difficult. Well, to me! Lamy is a well used make in this house, Bart must have a pencil case’s worth of their drawing gear!
Interested to read your tips about writing. I love to write in ink. I will have to see what ideas come to mind in the morning.
Happy WOYWW! Susan #26
