WOYWW 765 cats and colours

Hi all, just a short post
At art class we’ve started a fruit and veg still life.

Our tutor is very precise about drawing from life so it resembles the subject, so there’s a lot of drawings and rubbing out at first.

I’ve changed the blue to a cooler one in my crochet jumper project, and am adding more contrasting colours.
Most of my time this week has been looking after Gracie, who’s been diagnosed with tumours on her kidneys. She’s on pain meds, plus steroids and appetite stimulants. I found one way for now of disguising the pills by wrapping them in cheese, but cheese stopped working this morning so now I’m grinding up the tablets in a liquid treat she likes, Lik-e-Lix.
I won’t put her through chemo with lots of vets visits and injections as a single vet visit stresses her out, so it’s just a matter of time till she’s in more pain than reasonable.
Here she is with Bella on the bed.
We’re making a fuss of Bella too so she doesn’t feel left out.
Yesterday was B’s birthday so we went to the recently refurbished Kings Arms nearby. B is clowning outside - one too many photos 😉

They gave him a ‘happy birthday’ plate with extra ice cream.
And finally…

Take care and happy WOYWW
Hugs

I’m really sorry to hear about Gracie, no wonder she’s not been herself recently. Keeping her comfy is the main thing now, hugs to you all. It sounds like you’re doing the basics really thoroughly at the art class, it’s a good grounding, hope you’re enjoying it. I like the new colours in the crochet too, it’s changed character completely!

Sending best wishes to your hubby for his birthday yesterday. The King's Arms looks the perfect place to go to for something to eat. I love old pubs for food.
Sorry to hear the cheese is not working now for Gracie, but you have found an alternative. Amazon have something called Easypill Cat Putty you might look at. Have you tried various fishy smelling things, like pilchards. Tabs loved pilchards. Sort of mould it around the pill.
Do you do lots of practice at home with your drawing. That's the way forward with it. I always think a sphere is difficult to get the hang of to make it look like a sphere. Good shape to keep trying. Don't forget to ground your shapes.
Like the mix of colours in the crochet, have you seen myk chain? I am going to keep trying until I get a decent tension.
Hugs, and gentle tickles to Bella and Gracie. Wishes to you and Brian.

Great picture of Brian, and the pub looks lovely, I hope you both enjoyed his birthday lunch. So sorry about Gracie, poor little thing. Stressful for you both too, getting a cat to take a pill is so difficult, I really wish you could explain it to her!

Your tutor is very right to encourage you to draw from life, I always used to tell my pupils that they should look more at the object they are drawing than putting pencil to paper. We think we know an object but miss the details. Love the photo of hubby leaning on the wall of the pub, are you sure they didn't give him a birthday drink too Lol! Wishing you a very happy woyww. So sorry to hear about Gracie and good luck with the pills, I know my old girl was a nightmare to get to take anything. Looks like you had a fun birthday lunch, it's nice to be spoiled sometime. I told the waiter it was my birthday last year and I got a pudding with a sparkler and everyone sang Happy Birthday. I know, ...... I'm a child. (Hubby was mortified). Have a great week, love n hugs Cindyxx #15

LOL! Love the 'and finally's!! Also love the paint tins and colour wheel - there's something so pleasing about seeing paints in action. I'm so sorry to hear about Gracie. I hope she can be kept comfortable for as long as possible. Take care. Lisa-Jane #10

sorry to hear about Gracie. The art class sounds good, must admit I am a bit more "chuck it on the page and see" and looks like the birthday celebrations went down well too.
thanks for visiting my desk already
