I’m back for our weekly bloghop care of Sarah’s craft shed. It was lovely catching up with some of you on Saturday.
I’ve gone and put my ATCs away somewhere safe so I’ll have to show them to you next week.
I’ve been trying to start a crocheted baby book this week from this pattern.
My idea is to make 3 copies for the babies of my ‘cousinettes’ (children of my cousins as B likes to call them). We need a new term for the next generation!I used the yarn and tiny 1.75mm hook as specified but it came out way too big.
I’m not dropping another size of hook, my tension isn’t that far out, so I’m busking it, just working approximately to the picture.
Eventually you get a book with lots of moving parts for children to play with. This hen reveals an egg and a chicken,

There’s a rabbit with a carrot, a hippo, a bear with furry ears..,
I like the idea, if not the technical details of the pattern. Bella is supervising, of course, and sends you all purrs.
This is me trying to wake her up so I can go to bed. She works so hard 😻
I was pleased to be able to thank the singer Peggy Seeger on her ninetieth birthday last week. It was in an article about her in the Guardian. Her song really kept me going as a trainee engineer. It’s here:
Thanks for your good wishes last week. Sadly, my aunt died on Tuesday so I didn’t go to art class on Wednesday. She was in a lot of pain from her cancer at the end so it was a relief for her.
I start a summer art class on 5th June.
We had a nice visit today, Tuesday, to Lenham art show in a wonderful 14th century tithe barn.
There was lots of variety, painting, pottery, sculpture, without it being too big
Jan, I think you’d like Jane Ford.
And there was even a rocking horse above the cafe in the village.
And finally…
Happy WOYWW

Oh doesn't that art exhibition look amazing in the tithe barn - a stunning building. Thanks for sharing. I think the baby book will be lovely when it's done but a real work of art too. We will love to see the finished one x x Jo 🌈
Sorry to hear about your aunt but as you say she is now free from pain and you have to concentrate on that.
Love the little crochet book you are making, what a wonderful idea.
The place you went to for the exhibition looks amazing. Look at that ceiling - and I love the ceramics (and the hare).
Hugs, Neet 9 xx
I’m really sorry to hear about your aunt, she had a tough last few months - at least you did get to see her which was a lovely thing to do. Cousinettes is a great words, it serves to be used widely! Well done on starting the book, you have way more patience than me, it’ll be cute when it’s finished as it’s a lovely idea. That art exhibition looked fab in that beautiful old barn, I must check Jane Ford out, her hares are pleasing especially a giants the black background, I really like that!
Hugs LLJ 3 xx
Sorry to hear about your Aunt but she is at rest now. You always have something interesting going on her and love the new crochet project. I like the look of the barn exhibition, looks like a great place and brilliant art to see too . Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww. Hugs angela x10x
Once again, sorry for your loss. So hard to reconcile when losing someone might be better for them. That show looks fab - shame it's the wrong Gill for me LOL! I agree, your tutor's pottery is stunning. What a shape - and like LLJ, I would love Jane too. Off to listen to the song...
Fighting a bad back today and about at the end of my sitting at a desk time! Happy Year 17 start to WOYWW!

I am so sorry to hear about your aunt, but glad that she is in no more pain and at peace. I love the look of the show - some fabulous things happening there! Good luck with the crochet book; sounds challenging. Happy WOYWW Helen '#2
Thanks for your comment Lynne. I have passed on a link to Maxine. She often goes up that way for workshops so maybe investigate possibilities.😃
the interaction on the panel at Kew is hard to show in a still photo. on either side of the panel are cameras. under the ground a couple of feet in front of it, is a panel that you stand on and as you wave your hands, the blue dots (representing oxygen) move across the panel - across, or up and down. it's great fun, and the kids especially love it.
Sorry to hear about your Aunt but it’s good that she’s at peace now if she was suffering. I really love the look of that crocheted book…a lot of hard work for you.
Hugs,

So sorry for your loss Lynne. Loving the idea of that crocheted book. The art exhibition looks amazing. Trying to visit all tonight as I have workmen coming tomorrow to sort the rotten gatepost and rehang the gate. Great to see you on Saturday. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah
Sorry to hear about your aunt, it must be awful to see and for them to feel so much pain. The crocheted book is going to be wonderful. Happy WOYWW. Angela #13
Sorry to read about your aunt. At least she is no longer in pain. That child's book sounds fun, but challenging. That art exhibition had some really WOW pieces. SO glad you thought of me when you saw the rocking horse. Thanks.
The baby book looks like a lovely idea. I enjoyed the pics from the exhibition in that amazing tithe barn. Happy WOYWW! Susan #5
Oh the art show looks brilliant and so sorry to hear of your Aunt but as you say....Super crochet book, so many family generations! Not sure where your postage to OZ was referring to? the mag? It looks like a "Craft Essentials" series and I believe that is based in the UK? It was just the thought of the mag price and postage for a stencil as I couldn't really see all the other stuff included on the on-line photos, seeing it for real was the clincher. Hugs BJ#1
Oops just realised you deleted the comment about the OZ postage - no probs - I get all my comments via email so tend to respond after reading those. No matter. Hugs BJ#1
Sorry to hear about your Aunt but I can well believe, given the pain she was suffering, it was a relief for her and for you too. I'm impressed with the crochet book. I think it may be just a bit too complicated for me to tackle these days. Bella looks very happy sleeping on your lap. Silver does this too. My sister and I are great fans of Peggy Seeger too. I don't think it matters how she came to write those lyrics as they gave you the encouragement you needed to become an engineer. It's really not easy breaking what is considered the norm. The art exhibition looks fabulous. Enjoyed the funnies. Elizabeth x #12
