I’m back for our weekly bloghop care of Sarah’s craft shed.
Here’s my desk from our summer art class.
We’ve started the season with leafprinting, painting the backs of leaves with watercolour (the secret is to paint them with washing up liquid first) and pressing them down, rolling over them. We also painted around the negative space, such as the dandelion leaf on the left, and rolling leaves on an inked plate then transferring them to the page. This week we’ll add watercoloured flowers.
My second emotional support chicken is on its way. I call this the spatchcocked stage.
Bella has been helping and sends you all purrs.
I had a lovely birthday, thanks for all your good wishes. After my art class we went to a local restaurant, the Hide and Fox, which now has 2 Michelin stars and is very grand. The five course tasting menu looked like a lot but was lovely and not too filling, though there were salmon and tomato starters, turbot and pork mains and an almond and caramel parfait. Hugs

Oooh, I do really love the leaves piece, what clever techniques to use - I’d like to have a go at that! The spatchcock phase made me hoot, it’s the perfect description of this stage of the make, not the prettiest but you know what you’ll achieve will be lovely!
So glad you had a lovely meal, the perfect birthday treat xx

Great funnies! I also laughed at your spatchcock stage, very apt description. I am fascinated by your watercoloured leaves. Did you use neat washing up liquid? I would like to have a go at that. Glad you had a good birthday. Happy WOYWW. Angela #11
I love the leaf printing. Good tip about the backs. I chortled at the spatchcock phrase ! Have a good week . Helen #1
Sounds like you're having fun. I've used leaves in my art work before but not quite like this and it looks like it could make a great background paper (Masterboard type). Pleased you had a nice birthday, the food sounds lovely though I can never manage enough to enjoy the starters and a main course. like the sound of the parfait too. Wishing you a creative woyww. Hugs angela x7x

Love the painting with leaves, I did that once with the Rangers and got some lovely pages for the nature books they made/were making.
love the spatchcock. lol

The leaf printing is lovely. Just reminded me how much I used to enjoy leak printing at school with my class - usually did it in early Autumn with gorgeous Autumn colours I chuckled at the spurs funny 🤣x x Jo 🌈
I adore those leaf prints Lynne - such a great idea - looking forward to seeing where it goes next. Glad you had a good birthday - the meal sounds delicious. Meow to Bella. Stay safe and happy belated WOYWW. Sarah
