WOYWW 678 Tizzy triangles

Hi all, I hope you’re all well. I’m improving - less tired and writing again. I’m working on my editor’s comments on the first draft of my novel - she’s shown me lots of ways it can become a better story. I’m still crocheting my Tizzy triangle blanket. 

It’s supposed to end up like this:

Here’s Bella helping me with it. 

Gracie has had a bit of a sniffle so she’s having extra cuddles and cat milk.

WOYWW 677 Triangles

Hi all, I hope you enjoyed our 13th anniversary last week. Thanks Jan for my ATC, even though I didn’t take part! 

I’m taking part in Polly Plum’s crochet along for ‘Tizzy’, a blanket make out of triangles. It’s an interesting construction, with the 2nd triangle growing out of the 1st. 

I’m improving, slowly. We went to a pop-up deli at a local Italian pub, the Black Horse at Monks Horton, on Saturday, to buy some ham, fennel salami and Gorgonzola. We ended up staying for lunch. I may be wrong but I think that as long as there’s no new variant, we have good immunity to covid at present. 

The cats are happy for us to stay at home.

WOYWW 676 Happy Lace Anniversary everyone!

Hi all, here to celebrate the amazing 13th anniversary of what's on Your Workdesk Wednesday!

I'm not up to making and sending out ATCs yet, but here's a little ditty for you all, on rainbow lace, since the 13th anniversary =lace. 

 I’ve finished my little squares blanket and am now working on a Crochet along blanket by Polly Plum. It’s a blanket with an interesting triangular construction called In a Tizzy. It works best with cake yarn, as the stripes ray out from the centre,  but I’ve had some mares with online wool colours. I can’t go wool shopping yet so I’ve been at the mercy of the online shops. 

This one turned out horribly muddy

This one looked very different from the online picture 

All that yellow will get used some time but not for this. 

Hopefully I’ve now found the colours I want.

WOYWW 675 Squares for a blanket, smoothies

Hi all, thanks for all your good wishes again. I feel I’m making mini steps towards recovery but it’s slow. 

So my desk this week is more squares for a blanket for the back of the settee, to protect it. There’s a tad more colour now, some touches of pale pink and ginger. 

The other thing I’ve spent time on this week is making big green smoothies, with kale and fruit, parsley, celery, carrots and almonds, ginger and lime. Loading myself up with vitamins!  It feels like it’s doing me good anyway. I even managed my creative writing class on Monday, but energy levels are still very low, so please forgive if I don’t visit much. Stupidly, the part of covid that makes you exhausted and achy is your own immune response on overload. Caro’s GP friend kindly pointed me towards Cetirizine, which my own GP agreed, as well as respiratory steroids, but not much change yet. 

Bella and Gracie are happy to have a static cat cushion, anyway. They’re finding the garden and its wildlife exciting and even brought a live blackbird in last night. They can do really LOUD alarm calls! Fortunately we were able to usher it safely out of the front door while keeping the cats away and it seems to have been ok.

WOYWW 674 playing with squares

Hi all, still feeling crap - exhausted and achy, coughing. Thanks for all your good wishes last week. Sorry I haven’t had the energy to visit.

WOYWW 673 Cat blanket squares and covid

Hi, just a quick post as we’ve both got covid. 

Anyway, to crafting. I was bored with the cat blanket I was making so I’ve added some of Polly Plum’s Stardust Melody squares, details here: Stardust melody using up some stash. The colours are more muted than normal for me - fits in with my energy levels at the mo’.

For me covid is currently like a medium-grade chest infection with brain fog. B had a bad sore throat at first but is recovering better. I’m throwing all my meds at this - steroids, nebulised meds etc to stay out of hospital. None of the respiratory conditions are on the list for anti-virals, apparently 😠😠. 

My GP is being very supportive. She put me forward for an anti-viral trial but testing positive on a Friday meant I missed their 5-day window. Anyway 🤞🏻🤞🏻

This seems appropriate (thanks Douglas Adams!)

The cats are a bit bemused - I have to shut them out of the room to use my nebuliser and they’re not used to such poor service 😾😾

WOYWW 672 cat blanket and Florentines

Hi all, I hope you all had a good Easter?  This week, I’ve not been crafting much. I’m making another cat blanket, just a simple C2C pattern. 

I wanted to make some special chocolates for Easter, so I thought I’d try Florentines. I filled the bottom of each square with pistachios, walnuts, almonds, apricots, ginger, mixed peel, and then covered them in chocolate. 

They didn’t look really like Florentines but they taste ok!

After we dropped off the boobs last week, we thought we’d have a look at a restaurant that’s recently been done up. It’s called the Pig at Bridge. It’s literally downstream from us as the Nailbourne, below, begins near Lyminge. 

It was famous in the 1960s for rock gigs. Led Zeppelin once even played there. Sadly, it was before my time. 

The restaurant was very busy, but they found us a quiet corner with an open door to this pretty courtyard. 

Their menu sources most food from less than 25 miles away and the food was delicious.
