I’ve not done a huge amount but am making B some of the ammonite gloves I mentioned last time.
The pattern is here for anyone interested.
Here they are in progress. It’s tricky to get the size right so I’ve redone one more tightly. B has got quite used to holding out his hand. 😏
I hope you had lots of nice things for Christmas too. I had a beautiful magic carpet needle case from Shoshi, as you know. I’ve watched her make them over many weeks but it’s not till you hold one that you realise how fine the stitching is. Exquisite!Many thanks, Shoshi!
I also had a present that fascinates me.
It’s a tiny pot from Vietnam. Can you guess how old it is?
Thea has been helping with my crocheting.
...Or lying on my arm, when I can’t crochet at all, but she looks so cute!
Most of the 6000+ lorry drivers that were trapped nearby had a very poor Christmas. They have mostly gone home now, apart from about 60 who tested positive for Covid. I don’t know what’s happened to them.
The Sikh volunteer teams that organised meals for them were very impressive. Not the Christmas any of us would have hoped for, for them though.
And finally....

ReplyDeleteLove the idea of those fingerless gloves as I do like ammonites. I thought they were knitted and was going to give them a go. Ah well. I need to learn to crochet apparently.
ReplyDeleteDidn't realise there were lots of those drivers who did not get home. Am glad I didn't as it would have blighted my Christmas a bit. What a shame. I felt it so for those who could not be with family at home and thought they had all probably made it. Thank goodness for the goodness of the Sikhs.

That made me laugh imaging B holding his hand out at regular intervals!! With a resigned look on his face too, no doubt :-D. Thanks for the ammonite pattern, I shall have a peek at it but me and crochet patterns don’t get on.....I’m glad you’re doing ok, it was grand to ‘see’ you both the other day but you’re right, a proper meet up is long overdue. Fingers crossed the vaccine gets to us reasonably quickly and we can resume normal life. Well, when I say normal........... *grin*

HNY Lynne, Love your mittens and the colours. I leapt over for the pattern & am thinking of learning to crochet in 2021 just to make them. I did a crochet course years ago but my nanny squares turned out as trendy triangles!! They’d look lovely with a hand made button that I also want to have a go at, having seen them on Hochanda. ReplyDeleteI felt so sorry for those lorry drivers but can't blame the French for not wanting them all back untested. I hope B enjoys his mittens! our BJ tried to teach me to crochet once... ReplyDeleteThank you for sending me the pattern link, I bought some wool a couple of weeks ago for something else and as I haven’t been able to get out and buy something different I probably will use that. It was very sad about the lorry drivers and no need for it at all. 48 hrs couldn’t make any difference.

ReplyDeleteLynne, I have never done fingerless gloves, but would love to try sometime. First off it rarely gets cold enough for gloves here, but I can see how they would be beneficial! That sweet, cute kitty would probably stop my crafting all the time if she were at my house! She's a cutie for sure! I LOVE your tiny pot from Vietnam. Goodness knows how old it is! It is so pretty though! I love your funnies! And I, like you, would NEVER invite ALEXA the spy into my home either!! Too creepy for words! Thank you very much for your kindness last week, i'd have taken you up on the offer in the New Year but have now been gifted a sweet pair of Cranford Mitts for Christmas from my dear MIL and she would be very disappointed if I don't wear them until they fall apart or the moths get to them hee hee..

Perfect colour for ammonite gloves, and it’s a great pattern.don’t forget to tell B when he can put his hand down, or it’ll be like torture!! awful miserable time for the lorry drivers, I think the Sikh community and the soldiers did a wonderful job in a desperate situation. Let’s hope we can all move forward at a pace now.

I love the little Vietnamese box and couldn't hazard a guess at its age, but since you are asking, may we assume that it's pretty old? It is very beautiful and delicate. ReplyDeleteThank you so much for posting the link to the hand armers - I shall definitely be downloading that one as it's such an unusual and attractive design. Love the funnies! I have Alexa on my Amazon fire stick thingy but not otherwise - I only use it for searching for stuff on the videos. I hate the idea of an electronic device keeping tabs on me all the time, but I don't think the TV one does that - I hope not, anyway!!
So sweet to see Thea relaxing on your arm and preventing you from doing your crochet! Lily always lies on my hubby's arm if he's trying to do something, and then on his chest between him and his book to stop him reading! I hope Thea is doing OK without Dino (and you as well, of course) - you must both miss him a great deal. Some friends of my hubby's lost one of their young cats just before Christmas, one of 2 sisters - she just got up and stretched, and fell down dead! They reckon she had a hidden defect in her heart. So sad. It makes us appreciate our little darlings all the more, doesn't it.
I agree with you about the Sikhs - what a tremendous effort and how much their kindness must have been appreciated. I bet the food they cooked was delicious!

Thank you for your visit, Lynne, and for your kind words about my projects. I laughed at what you said about Simon's Cat - as far as I know Lily hasn't watched any of that! Simon's cat is definitely a bad influence on any kitty household. We've been watching him for years and love him! You really must watch Maru - that kitty is a hoot. And now to watch his antics with the new kitten Miri, I'm laughing all the time! She's tiny compared with him but so feisty, and keeps launching herself at his head! Lily loves it.
