The title of this post might be a bit disappointing for someπ. I’ll say right now it’s about crochet and crochet hooks! ππ§Ά
I’m very nearly there with my chevron blanket strips.
You can also see my latest hook above. It’s a 4mm olive wood ‘hybrid plus’ with a styled thumb rest. The one I showed you last week made the gauge for this project too loose but I’ll find a use for it. The slightly shorter hook is better for me as a leftie than the longer one, and the styled (larger) thumb rest is brilliant. I’m getting B to buy me a couple more for Crimbo and am hesitating between handle colours. There’s a huge choice of woods and handles but I want some finer gauge hooks, and though my cats don’t chew wood, I’m avoiding the ones that would be toxic, like yew, African Blackwood and laburnum. So it’s brown ivory wood for the 3mm with a root beer handle
For the 3.5mm I have more choice. I like the birds eye maple but which handle goes best? What do you think?
This one is called mojito.

I’ve been watching Tunisian crochet videos this week on Facebook: Asli ile sanatsal tasarimlar Tunisian crochet. It’s a bit of a mouthful but they make Tunisian crochet look so quick and easy. I will NOT start it before I finish my blanket..NOT NOT NOT! I think I’ll have some cake yarn left over from the blanket do I can use that. I’ve found a Tunisian crochet video for lefties Here. Just a little test:
That will be put to one side till I’ve finished the blanket.
I’ve also joined a writing group called ‘Write by the Sea’. We have meetings where there’s an invited speaker and others where we share our writing on a given theme. Last week was travel and I wrote a short story on arriving at the vineyard. I’ll put it on my writing blog. Send me an email to lmcollis@icloud(dot)com
if you want to read it and don’t have access to the blog.
If you read my novel and liked it, please, please put a review on Amazon review. It’ll help me get an American publisher
Many thanks.
Bella and Gracie send purrs to you all.
And finally…
Take care and happy WOYWW to you all.
I’m off to read your blogs, courtesy of Miss Julia at the Stamping Ground

Ooh my vote is for the Oyster Pearl for the 3.5 hook Lynne. Meow to the kitties - they already seem to love the blanket! Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #6
I can't crochet (just ask BJ who tried to teach me once) but the hook handles are beautiful to look at... Glad you have your next project lined up - hope you don't abandon the blanket to crack on.. Happy WOYWW Helen #8
Love those hooks, the choices are all beautiful though I did like the Mojito one very much. IT’s a bit like choosing your wand at Ollivanders isn’t it? I wonder if the hook chooses the crafter after all…. Have you started the Tunisian crochet yet??! I can tell you want to and are being very retrained in not leaping in *grin*
Hope you’re keeping ok, I’m just happy it’s cooled down lots!

Just look at all that colour in that yarn π§Ά fabulous photo Lynne π₯°can't wait to see it finished ⭐️ I have crochet envy π how I wish I could get the hang of it ... my Gran used to make us the most beautiful multi coloured π tank tops from left over bits of wool when we were bairns. Love what you do Lynne, that oyster pearl is lush π I'm smiling as I can sense your excitement through your words at the discovery .. Tunisian crochet ππ€Έπ₯°❤️π happppy days! Wishing you a week full of good things π with love and hugs Tracy #12 xxx

I never knew crochet could be such fun - those hooks are gorgeous, no wonder you want a couple for Crimbo. I love the Root Beer and the Oyster Pearl.
Sorry I have not started your book yet, I am still ploughing through the books on my Kindle which kind of follow on so I don't want to stop them as yet. Nearing the end though - only about six more to read. Then it is "Silver" all the way.
Take care, enjoy your writing circle and your crochet - and, of course, the kitties.
Hugs, Neet 16 xx
Oh the painting kit made me laugh, but mainly due to The Sketch Show take on that song which popped into my head too, with Tim Vine who lives round the block from me. Sorry I digress, the crochet hooks are amazing, far to many to choose from if you ask me! Hugs BJ#1
Wow. What lovely hooks. I am sure someone gave me or showed me an extremely long crochet hook and said it was for Tunisian crochet. Must look at the video. Happy WOYWW. Angela #4
OK, now I can't get that song out of my head, California Dreamin' is one of my favourites! As for the gorgeous crochet hooks, I love the root beer one, and the pearl oyster one. Have a great week, Lindart #20
Who knew you could get crochet hooks in all those gorgeous woods! Great choices. I love using random yarns but I do get a bit obsessed with trying to match sides etc - totally bonkers, I know.ππx x Jo
I like Root Beer and Oyster Pearl. Both are beautiful. I'm amazed at the beauty of the wood in these hooks. Your chevron is going to be awesome soon. Seems Bella and Gracie have given their stamp of approval already.
LOVED the funnies, especially the paint by numbers. I'll be singing that song all day long. Happy WOYWW from # 3.
I am so in love with the crochet hooks especially the Oyster Pearl one, it's gorgeous. The Tunisian crochet looks interesting too. Love the funnies, I can relate to the lady poking her husband snoring unfortunately! Wishing you a happy and creative woyww. Hugs, Angela x14x
the hooks are beautiful! Tunisian crochet makes me crazy, with the curl. I did one work out how to "avoid" it with a different cast on/row one but it's been YEARS since I did it LOL! The blankie is coming along and the funnis, as ever, give me my morning laugh. Love them!
Happy lovely day late WOYWW!

I love fiber, yarn... knitting 'n' hooking... so I appreciate this post! I haven't done Tunisian crochet in years, and perhaps I'll seek out a pattern to create something after I finish our couch blanket... and the sock projects that are lined up. Thanks for the inspiration!
Will have to read your book...
Love all the info about the crochet hooks. I want to try Tunisian...
A bit late but Happy WOYWW! Susan #7
