WOYWW 813 Happy new year to you all!

Hi all, I wish you all a happy and healthy new year, and hope you’ve had a good Xmas. Ours was quiet, (apart from an annoying tinnitus I’ve developed) but we cooked some excellent meals and cakes.
I’ve not got back to my art desk but have done some crochet - using my Hobbii winter glow yarn in a more blended style to make myself a waistcoat.

Bella has been supervising but is currently distracted by her Crispmouse presents, a cardboard donut with a ball inside and some catnip mice from Mollys Mice.

Last year’s mice were brown and we had to look twice rather too often. (You can see a brown one next to the donut). She sends you all purrs.

And thank you, Bella, for not climbing our Xmas tree.

And finally …
This photo is off facebook- it just makes me smile.

Thank you all and happy WOYWW

WOYWW 812 Merry Christmas!

Just a quick blog to wish you all a very happy Christmas!
I finished B’s slipover on Monday, having to make quick adjustments to have a big enough neck hole (oops!)
Our last art class of the year was a quick sketch of a Christmas tree branch, amongst lots of snacks including felafel, sausage rolls, Pignoli etc. Very nice!👍🏻
I was delighted to have the mark making on my seascape praised. 🥰
I’m having a play with plain crochet 1/2 treble stitches on variegated wool.

Bella sends purrs to you all.

And finally…

Let’s hope they do turn out and bring you lots of lovely stuff!
Happy Christmas and happy WOYWW

WOYWW 811 Waves and Pignoli

Hi all, I’m back for our last Wednesday bloghop before Christmas care of Sarahscraftshed. First of all, I wish you all happy Christmas! On my desk, I’m finishing off my Stormy Seascape.
Last week we were starting to add pastel to our seascapes.

I think I’m done! We’re doing a quick study of a bit of Xmas tree and a clothes peg tomorrow.
We’re taking treats to class so I made some Pignoli, Sicilian almond, lemon and pine nut cookies.
I have 10 put away for class or we’d eat them!
They have a soft almond paste centre, and are a mix of almond paste, pine kernels, sugar, bit of flour, egg white and lemon zest. It’s Nigel Slaters recipe (updated) but I used almond paste rather than marzipan (less sugar I think: Odense sell it on Amazon.) It’s the first time I’ve made them, and I think I’d make them smaller next time, but I’m still pleased.

B’s slipover is nearly finished. Bella’s supervising as ever. 😻😹 She sends purrs to you all.
And finally…

Ain’t that the truth!

Take care and happy WOYWW

WOYWW 810 Waves

Hi all,
I’m back for our weekly blog, care of Sarah’s Craft shed. Here’s my desk:

My seascape will be finished in my Wednesday art class. We’ll be using soft pastels to make sea foam, which will hopefully cover the join down the middle. I’ve no problem with painting with unusual shapes but I’d have preferred to take chunks out of the edges rather than tearing the whole sheet up. Ah well, in the name of art! The middle right section was done by creating a wet base, laying and stretching clingfilm across it then introducing more paint and tilting it to run down the clingfilm creases.
Here’s our wall of glass-distorted postcards from last week.

Bella has helped me finish the back of B’s slipover and I’m doing the front.

I’ve also added buttons to the baby cardigans. My goddaughter’s second child is due next February and will be a girl.

Bella sends purrs to you all. I love her little smile when she’s having her chin chucked.

And finally…

II’ll be back this afternoon (Wednesday) as we’re going for lunch after art class.
Take care and happy WOYWW

WOYWW 809 Late blog

I nearly forgot it was blog day this week. It’s 1am and . Bella just woke us with some zooming about. Good job she did!
I’ve been trying out my pastel colours for this week’s seascape. I won them as a prize when I wrote a letter to an art magazine about the brush rest Brian made for me from wine corks.
This is the seascape I’ll be copying. The pastel is used with/ over the watercolour for spray.

We’ve had to tear up and glue random pieces of watercolour paper together and I’m not sure how it will work - more details next week.
My knitting has progressed and I’ve finished the back.

Bella’s been supervising again! She sends you all purrs.

And finally…

Take care and happy WOYWW
