WOYWW 815 crochet and dragonflies

Hi all, I’m back for our weekly bloghop care of Sarahscraftshed.co.uk
I forgot to photograph our Wednesday art class desk last week, but we were mainly doing splashy underpainting, and discussing’what next?’
We know all our councils are short of cash but Kent Adult Education is only interested in vocational classes now, and no repeat classes. Pensioners are not of interest at all, even though we pay for our classes. All the staff, managers and tutors, are having to reapply for their own jobs or apply for redundancy so I think we’ll be in an independent class next year. The way it’s being managed is less than ideal.
My dragonfly will be more interesting after this Wednesday’s class!  This is my reference photo, which I’ll be doing without the branch.
My crochet is progressing and I’m determined to complete this without buying more balls of Winter Glow. I love doing this in Herringbone stitch. More details here, if you like: Herringbone stitch pattern
I’ve finished the back and have started on the front. I have my trusty supervisor as ever.
Bella sends you all purrs.
I’m doing all blue tones this time.

And finally…
This was just a picture of a Mongolian girl that made me smile.

(Not really 😀 we’ve had hardly any snow here. We are keeping our bird feeders full though. Does anyone know where all the birds go on the weekend of the Great British Birdwatch? I can guarantee lots of interesting birds visiting our garden every other day!)

I’ll be back to visit after my art class.
Take care all and happy WOYWW
Hugs

Loving the crochet progression Lynne. Hope you manage to eke out the yarn and sort out a new art class eventually too. Looking forward to seeing the progress of the dragonfly. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah

What a pain about the local classes Lynne, it seems wrong that activities like that which are so important to a progressively forgotten group of people are just being shunted off. It’s happening here too. I hope that the class continues independently as you seem to be doing some amazing projects. Love to Bella, she looks cozy!

Ha, the Batman cartoon made me smile...I really like that Herringbone stitch. Made me smile when you say you're determined not to buy any more if that particular yarn to finish, reminds me of that joke about writing fast because the ink's running out! I think the birds are in my neighbour's garden, last year her results and mine were polar opposites!

It amused me when you wrote that all the birds disappear for the great British Birdwatch. I did it with my Mum every year and we were lucky if we saw a pigeon and yet both our gardens were bird filled most of the year! Happy WOYWW! Susan #9

Sorry to hear about your class Lyn. I hope it continues as an independent class. I am quite excited to see your dragonfly. Although the one in photograph isn’t colourful, they can have amazing colours in them. Happy WOYWW. Angela #13

That's so annoying about the art classes. I hope a solution can be found. I love the colours of your wool . Happy woyww Helen #1

Oh no! How disappointing. I hate that. Seems quite unfair. But the crochet is looking fab - the yarn is so so pretty but I get not wanting your whole wardrobe (and Hubby's!) to match. Might be fun to work with something totally different. Bella is a sweetie - I'm amazed you get anything done with her about. :D Happy WOYWW!

Thanks for the link to the herringbone stitch. I would love to learn that one. I am sorry to hear about your class, but hopefully they will make an accomodation. That picture of "Lady Mary" just cracks me up. She was probably my least favorite character on Downton Abbey. Even in the end when they tried to soften her up, all I could see was her eternal smirk!
Looking forward to seeing your dragonfly painting!

How frustrating about the art classes….fingers crossed it all works out ok for you. I love the blues in your crochet…my favourite colours.

How sad that your art class is fizzling out. I know cutbacks are needed because of the dire situation councils are in but it's so short sighted. I hope you can get an independent class somewhere. Your crochet is fab ,- such a lovely colour way . Do you think the birds know we are counting them? I've also thought they clear off somewhere for the Bird count 😀x Jo 🌈

Know what you mean about the birds, gosh it must be the GBB soon, must look up the date...And the batman joke made me chuckle. Big Garden Birdwatch is 24th - 26th Jan 2025. Hope woody the woodpecker comes to visit then, they have been quite delightful this past year. Oh and love the herringbone stitch too and can't wait to see the dragonfly painted. Hugs BJ#5
