WOYWW 876 Resting and curating

Hi all,Sending healing hugs to our Neet, and thinking of the patients and families suffering from the meningitis epidemic only 12 miles away from us.

I have an idea for some beading / embroidery so am currently collecting / curating supplies. I can shop for Britain when I’m on steroids 🤩
Beads and sashiko threads and some felt for now.
I’m resting, still suffering from Bell’s palsy. I saw my excellent physio by video call yesterday and he confirmed my eye is closing better so I don’t have to tape it anymore. Yay! The palsy’s exhausting me though and stupid systems at my GP have made the ‘roid rage hard to control. Their Econsult doesn’t recognise *diagnosed* Bell’s palsy and kept trying to send me down A&E stroke pathways so I missed the slot for getting a doctor’s call. Grrr🤬. Still, collecting nice supplies is fun

I’ve also been crocheting twiddles when I’ve not had much energy.
Bella’s been giving me lots of cuddles and supervising me. She sends you all purrs.
Happy St Patrick’s and St. Gertrude of Nivelles day for yesterday. I like St Gertrude, she’s the patron saint of cats

And finally …

I’ll be round in the morning, to visit care of Sarah’s Craftshed
Take care and happy WOYWW

WOYWW 875 the art of painting culverts and eye taping

Hi, just a short post today. Sending healing hugs to Neet. Bella wanted to send her a chocolate mouse for her birthday yesterday till I explained it had no mouse in it, so we sent her an e-card which I hope she got ok.
Here’s my desk from last week’s art class. I’m not going today.as I’ve contracted Bell’s palsy, a temporary paralysis of the left side of my face. It means I have to keep my eye covered as it won’t close properly and there’s serious risk of damage to my eye, else. I really haven’t got used to taping it, and have to have it untaped if I drive so I’d miss half the class while trying to redo it when I get there. Brian is helping me do it at home.
Bella’s keeping us company and sends you all purrs.
I’m not up to precise crochet one- eyed so I’ve just done a few twiddles, which I forgot to take photos of.

And finally…

Stay well and happy WOYWW

WOYWW 874 Pastels, sewing and Thames cruises

Hi all, As I’m joining in with our blog circle care of Sarah’s craftshed, I’m sending healing hugs to those of you who are unwell, especially to our Neet.
My art class desk isn’t very interesting at the drawing stage.
Our tutor, Claire, shared some techniques for using soft pastels with watercolour.

This is my desk at home, testing colours and trying pastels for the culvert painting
The pastel over watercolour for the water didn’t work well for me, but I tried using clingfilm over wet paint and I think that may work better.

We’ll see more techniques at art class this week.
I managed to do a few bits of hand sewing in the last few days, taking up B’s trousers, the sleeves of a jacket, and putting a patch pocket on this jacket. It was sold with its trousers as pajamas but it’s too pretty for that. The trousers were far too small so I chopped off part of a leg to make a pocket. I like the lime green contrasting cuff.
The back of my waistcoat is progressing; I don’t always get Bella’s supervision since we’ve had dry weather, there are such interesting things in the garden. (We’ve only had 2 dead mice so far). She sends you all purrs though, and is happy to sleep under my crochet when she’s worn out from patrolling the garden.

Our French goddaughter, Alexia, came to London on Saturday with her partner, Pierre, for a works’ trip to the Harry Potter studio, which Alexia loves. It’s ten years since she and I visited it.
Sunday was free so we went on a cruise down the Thames and back with them, and had a late lunch before they had to catch the Eurostar home.

It was great to see them, and fortunate that the company where Pierre works decided to have a trip here. We’ve tried to coordinate before for a trip including the HP Studio but you have to book so far in advance it’s been difficult.
And finally…

I’ll be round after class. My turn to bring cake this time, what’s your favourite? Mine’s the apricot and almond bara brith that I attributed to Granny Boswell in my novel, A Sense for Silver. Here’s the recipe. The only thing I’d change is to put the apricot glaze on it when it comes out of the oven.

Happy WOYWW
Hugs
