WOYWW 850 the Hand of Autumn

Hi , I’m back for our weekly bloghop care of Sarah’s Craftshed.

Here’s my art class desk first. We’re doing the Hand of Autumn in the style of Arcimboldo, and I’m loving our first project, filling the outline of my hand with leaves, fruit, acorns and a feather. We’ll gradually cover the outline with foraged bits and pieces, painting all the items as we go

This is one of Arcimboldo’s, an Italian who lived in the 16th century.

I’ve loved reading ‘Georgia’ a novel about Georgia O’Keeffe by Dawn Tripp and it inspired me to paint something different: My Beaujolais.
Sorry  I didn’t get far round last week. I had to search through all my mother’s photos and memories for these photos of my aunt, Chris, whose wake is this weekend in Stoke (for which we’re making a flying visit). I confess it upset me far more than I expected, and I escaped into reading.
This one is my aunt as a girl with my Grandad and Nan Collis. It’s typical of her so it was worth finding.

I finished Miss Mathilda who’s coming to Stoke for my cousin.

Bella loves sleeping on my lap while I’m crocheting and sends you all purrs.

 And finally:

Sorry this is a mess. I put it in my poetry blog by mistake and only just realised. The original is here: lmcollis.blogspot.Com.
I’ll be round visiting after class. Hugs

Sorry you had an upsetting time, but the photo looks such a happy memory. Hopefully that was a comfort. Must research the Hand of Autumn, what a cool concept. Looking forward to seeing the final piece. Loving the chicken, they have all been stunning, and Bella is a darling lap warmer. I struggle to knit with Poppy in place, but sometimes I can manage it :)
Happy (finally a knitting day!) WOYWW!

I love the idea behind the new painting project, it sounds like a lot of fun! The latest chicken is a real character, I’m sure she’ll rule the roost up in Stoke lol! That’s such a great photo of Chris, what attitude she had, she looked a real tomboy, I was very like that when young as well. Big hugs over going through the photos, even after all this time something can upset us, it’s only cos you care so very much xx

I used to do a project with the children when I was teaching based on Arcimboldo, very interesting Artist. The comment over at mine about the grapes was interesting as we were in France just over a week ago and my friend's grapes were very poor this year, we have never seen ours so ripe and I have done nothing extra to them so it must just be the weather. Wishing you a very happy woyww. Hugs Angela x8x

Familiar with the picture concept but didn't know Arcimboldo; yours is going to be just as fab, what a great idea. I'm sorry that you were upset by going through the photos, my sister and I cried like babies while we were doing the same prior to my Mamas funeral; but since, we've laughed and enjoyed all the pics, isn't it strange how the emotion wins out.
I love Matilda! I hope she enjoys her new home and that you and Brian aren't too exhausted by a quick and emotional trip to Stoke.
