WOYWW 868 Scribbly trees and crochet colours

Hi all, it’s bloghop time again courtesy of Sarah’s Craftshed. Sending healing hugs to our Neet who, I believe, is still in hospital.
My desk shows the work in progress of my winter landscape. Claire has us using twigs and feathers to scribble trees, using only flat brushes, and keeping to a restrictive palette. Mine is mainly shades of blue and eventually orange.
The greys are ultramarine or indigo with burnt sienna.
I’ve applied gesso in the foreground but I’m working down to it. We’re working in the style of an artist called Michael Morgan.
Here’s a link to a short extract about him from the book Watercolour Innovations by Jackie Simmonds.

I’m still working on B’s slipover and have moved onto the front. I’ve photographed them both together with a red mark to show where the front is up to.

I’m using one of my Mum’s old knitting needles to organise my colours. They’re all variegated King Cole Prism yarn, between Stylecraft special yarn in silver (though it looks more cream to me.)

These yarn bobbins are helping me keep the yarn untangled. (I guess ‘in a robble’ must be Potteries dialect for ‘in a tangle’ as even Brian said he hadn’t heard of it.)
Bella is supervising as ever and sends you all purrs.

And finally…
I’ve been guilty of this but I did tear myself away from crochet and art to do my tax return.

Jokes seem ever more essential these days. It’s getting so that even this crazy film by Peter Sellers seems more sensible than the news:

I’ll be round to visit after art class - put the kettle onπŸ˜€

Interesting techniques for your watercolour project, the teacher does set you some good challenges! I really like Bri’s slipover, the colours and pattern are working so well as is your patented yarn de-robbing system lol! Does Bella no find those bobbins just too tempting?!

The winter painting is looking lovely already - what an interesting challenge you've been given, and thank you for the info on Michael Morgan - that painting of his is stunning. I'm loving the slipover, what a great pattern - I would love a blanket in that stitch. Glad Bella is helping with the sorting of colours!
Hope you have a great week,

Oh the egg joke put a smile on my face - LOL. Love seeing the beginnings of your art and how it progresses, so too the crochet. Nice to see the yarn bobbins and the knitting needle set up - something I'd do too. Hugs Bj#1

Your art course is really interesting. Did you practice with the feather and sticks first? Was the gesso to get some texture? Really looking forward to your progress . Hugs Angela #10

I loved the funnies today. Your slipover is so tactile and your anti robbling device is priceless! Great invention. I'm amazed at the techniques in your artwork - very clever.x x Jo 🌈

Hi Lynn
All projects must have some type of supervision in the form of furries. ;-)
Looks like I'm not the only one organized. Great job on keeping the yarns from tangling.
Creative Blessings & Hugs!

My Mum and I know the expression in a robble Lynne and that was before I moved to the Potteries, so it must be more of a Staffordshire expression. Loving the narrow colour palette on your latest watercolour. Neet has been in touch and she has been allowed home from hospital. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah

Your slipover is really coming along nicely! It reminds me of my Dad, who used to wear a sweater simiar to that all the time! Nice way to hold your yarn! If I'm a bit incoherant it's because it is 2:48am and my back is killing me☹️, I'm waiting for 3am so I can take more Advil and maybe get back to sleep. ❤️Lindart#15 PS: Love to Bella! Looks like she's keeping noce and warm!

That slip-over is looking proper stunning. I just love the colours. In a robble is a new one to me but I do love finding an interesting turn of phrase so happy to find it. Dr Strangelove is crazy for sure, and that visual of Slim Pickin's riding the bomb comes to me a lot these days. It is, indeed, crazy times. Dor me it's prokntination, I'm afraid, but it works the same way! Happy incredibly late WOYWW!
