WOYWW 908 the Soul of Autumn, and twisty crochet.

Hi all,
I’m still without broadband, latest news is changeover by this Friday so the statutory compensation is starting to mount up. Oddly, the worst aspect is their awful call-waiting muzak, especially Pink Pony Club, which feels like it’s carving a groove through my brain. To counteract that, I’m playing lots of music and have set to learning to sing Baker St by Gerry Rafferty, a favourite as it came out the year I met Brian. I can instantly switch to the sax solo to drown out the nasty ear worm.  🎷🥰. I’ve chatted with some lovely BT Connections team call handlers though, the latest was a guy from Burnley, who was telling me about his music degree, (and wanted to put his headphones on his piano when working from home, a much better idea!) and another from Merthyr Tydfil.
In my art class, our tutor had us searching for an enigmatic leaf to paint this week, the ‘Soul of Autumn.’
Heres my desk, colour matching in my sketchbook to get the right colours.
I love how my leaf was curling on one side and flaring autumn russet on the other.
And my painting, with a little haiku, that I must trim and rewrite more neatly for next week’s class. I still need to deepen the red, I’ve a shade of my Italian watercolours from Gallo, called morellone, which is perfect for it.
We’re painting them in the style of Rory McEwen, including the odd placing on the page. I like to think of it just landing there.
Thanks for your kind comments on my lapwing. Here’s my favourite of our class, by my friend Fran.

I’m experimenting with crocheting a Möbius poncho, which I thought might be nice for when Alexia is nursing her baby. You make a big rectangle, twist it, crochet a neckline and continue down the back.

Bella’s supervising, and sends you all purrs.
Here’s as far as I’ve got:

I had some excellent news from our exhibition this week, that someone wants to buy my Reading Tree painting.
The gallery at Sandgate Deli’s open Wednesday -Saturday so I’ll get the confirmation soon. I’m really delighted to hear it.

And finally…

No art class, as it’s half-term, so, mobile data permitting, I’ll be round in the morning.
Hugs

What a pain about the broadband! things like that are why I never change providers for anything! I hope they sort you soon. Glad you've been keeping yourself busy though, the poncho sounds a great idea for a nursing mum. Happy WOYWW helen #2

Happy WOYWW!
Aiming for visits on the day for a change :D Sorry about the no broadband - ours is still pretty crappy too. Wonder what's up? Part of the PHP hack stuff or some other annoyance? Bella looks quite impressed, as am I, with your sale!! and Slavador Dalek made me hoot.

Many congratulations on having your painting sold, woohoo! I love your leaf, great colours and your friend’s version of the lapwing technique is beautiful. The Möbius poncho is a great idea for Alexia, the construction is probably simpler than it sounds!
Have linked you up btw, you’re at no 3.

Oh my life, I was watching the Wuthering Heights new film last night with the Kate Bush song worming through my head so looked up the charts for March 1978 and there it was at #1 with "Baker Street" at #6. I guess you met in 1978 then. Super leaf - enigmatic indeed. Thanks for explaining the placement too, yes just fluttered down from its branch and landed on your page....My that is a cleaver poncho design love your colours. Oh and a sale - well done you. Hello Lynne, I'm delighted to hear someone is buying your lovely painting. You must be well chuffed. I always enjoy yur artwork and today's leaf is already beautiful. The name for the Italian colour is lovely - I've no idea what it means but it just sounds a certain shade of red. Your friends painting is beautiful too. I'm sorry you are still having problems with your broadband supply. My neighbour's has been down for over a week now and that's a disaster for their year old baby who loves the children's TV programmes. Hope you are back online again soon. Oh, and before I forget, Baker Street is one of my all-time favourites too. That sax solo is awesome. Happy WOYWW and have a great week. Hugs Elizabeth x #13
