WOYWW 775 Crochet and drawings

Hi all,
I’m back for our weekly blog hop care of Miss Julia at the Stamping Ground
I’ve been trying out drawings to do a line and wash painting of a cabinet of curiosities and have reorganised my desk organiser to accommodate a set of Derwent Linemakers, in the middle, just above the chewing gum.
I’ve taken photos of some cherished curiosities and am doing line drawings to see which would work.
Some of them work well as line drawings, like my owl inkwell, the Florentine horse and Welsh love spoon, some less well like my Abbeydale vase and some were tricky like my Chinese sages and the portrait of my great-aunt.

When I’ve chosen them, I’ll draw a cabinet of curiosities like this one, and draw/paint them in.

It’s a slow project but I’m enjoying it.
I’ve just finished another, my cardigan:

Pockets, 3/4 sleeves and my choice of colours.
All done with Bella’s help - she sends purrs to you all. She’s working hard as you can see 😹
And finally….

Take care and happy WOYWW
Hugs

  3. Morning Lynne! Like the idea of your drawing project, I wonder why the chinese sages were so hard? Great cardi and I love a 3/4 sleeve, everything is always so long on my little arms. Hugs to Bella, she's a super star. Have a great week, love n hugs, Cindy xx #10

  4. Where to look first! The cardi turned out fab, love the colours, although no 3/4 length sleeves for me! The CofC set up looks like it will be fun to draw and paint. Can't wait to see it. And Bella - so sweet and sleepy. Love the eclipse funnies. How timely, of course!
    Happy WOYWW!

  7. I love your start to the Cabinet of Curiosities! It made me remember that I have one of those and I should use it and fill it up. Your sweater is gorgeous, I love the colours! And isn't it wonderful when Bella helps by sleeping, and not chasing after the yarn! The eclipse funny is funny! Have a wonderful week, Lindart #15

  9. Well done with the arid, it's really great, and even between the two photos on your post the colours look really different, so I bet irl it's even more vivid! Love your preps for the Caninet of curiosity , Ithink portraits must be v hard. Love the rendition of the Love Spoon, really clever. I really like the Linemaker pens, they are a bit like fountain pens to my mind, even after only a couple of uses they feel as if no one else should use them, and in particular I think the nib develops an angle that only one hand ca n make!

  11. Well, you don't do things by halves, that proposed piece of artwork is one heck of a piece. I am sure, however, that you will master it. It sounds a lovely project and your line drawings are excellent. I do like the owl.
Never used the Derwent Linemakers, I have a thing about pens like other women have about shoes so no doubt I will be looking out for them next time we are in the area (Keswick).
I am amazed at just how hard Bella works. All cats in fact.
