WOYWW 607 Spirals

Hi all, back again for our weekly blog hop kindly hosted by Julia at The Stamping Ground
I don’t feel I’ve been very productive this week. Eye-watering headaches that have now been diagnosed as cluster headaches so I’ve a nose spray on the way. Sorry if I haven’t visited much.

I have a minuscule workspace at present. I’m trying to make spiral Dorset buttons.

They're not featured in the huge manual I bought from Beaker buttons.    I’m trying one now using two needles to make it more spiral.
After struggling with that, I called the very helpful Jen from
Beaker buttons, and she helped me spiralise it 😏

Here are the ones I made for my own Ammonite wrist warmers.

At least one day this week has been good enough weather for a walk. Here is one of the oldest houses in our village. The village itself is much older though; they’ve dug up Bronze Age remains by the church, and it was an important Anglo-Saxon abbey: Lyminge Archeology

Thea doesn’t go far but she likes a parkour over our neighbour’s fence and kitchen. Not bad for hibernation season!

Haven’t seen many cartoons this week but I liked this one...

And this magazine cover made me giggle.
Stay safe and happy WOYWW

  1. I’m sorry to hear about the headaches Lynne, that must have been very debilitating, hope you have some meds to help now. The Dorset buttons are fab, I remember Jen being lovely whenever I popped in the shop! Do you think Thea could get any closer?? The funnies at the end made me hoot especially the down trodden hubby :-D
It hasn’t stopped raining here but we’re missing the worst of the storm so far, think it’s gone further north. We’re enjoying the wood burner and hunkering down until it’s all blown over!

  5. I'm so sorry to hear you've been suffering with cluster headaches, I do hope the spray works and you begin to feel a lot better. I love Dorset buttons but have never tried making them, it's on my long list of things to have a go at. They look fabulous on your wrist warmers. I loved the funnies and my husband had a huge laugh at the first one - in fact he laughed a little too long and loud!
Hope you have a good week, stay safe and well,

  6. Sorry to hear about the headaches, I don't get them too often but when I do they are migraines so I know how you must be feeling. I always love your buttons they are gorgeous and the village pics are nice too. Pleased to see you keeping busy. We are so lucky to have such interests and great friends to share it with. Take care and have a lovely creative woyww, Angela x14x

  7. Lynne, so sorry to hear about your headaches. I do get them from time to time but hear terrible stories from those that suffer more frequently! I do hope you will be better soon! I can't imagine! I LOVE Ammonite wrist warmers!! The colors are a yesiree to me! And I don't know much about the Dorset buttons, but I think what you did for your warmers is lovely!! Loved your scenery pictures! It truly made my heart ache as I have long wanted to visit the English country sides. It's on my bucket list that I'm afraid probably will have to stay there! LOL Just gorgeous! Enjoy that splendor as the closest I come to seeing that is up in our northern mountains. And that doesn't even touch what you see! Hope you are staying safe and hope you recoup soon! Felicia #27

  8. Really sorry to hear about your cluster headaches, Lynne. I understand this is some of the worst pain one can experience, and I hope the treatment helps you. I know what migraines are like and they are bad enough... Your ammonite crochet is just gorgeous - definitely on my list of things to do once I've finished all the other stuff on the list! Your buttons are lovely, and I love the colour scheme you've chosen. Love your funnies, especially the last one. I love these spoof magazine covers. Someone did a Bluffer's Guide to Ostomies spoof on the stoma forum once and it was absolutely hilarious!! Amazing what you can do with a little bit of skill on Photoshop!

Thank you for your visit - glad you enjoyed the Trabant joke! I can't remember how I paid for the blender, I'm afraid. I'm hoping they will see sense eventually but now I've got my new one, if I have to write it off as a bad loss it won't be the end of the world, I suppose. The kitties don't "mrrp" but send purr purr to Thea instead! The kitty blanket is going well. I think once it's made up, I can guess who is going to use it most, and it probably won't be my hubby!

    Happy WOYWW,

  9. Oh poor you Lynne, headaches like that are debilitating to say the least, I hope the spray will be effective in all aspects, removing pain, reducing ache. I didn’t know her name was Jan, but Beaker a button lady is a very nice helpful person, I do agree. Delighted to hear that she’s still about during lockdown, am a bit fearful for the little craft units on the site where she has her workshop shop, I must say, these lockdowns are tough on such businesses.

  11. I loved the magazine cover & sent it on to my sister for a laugh! My daughter suffered from headaches terribly and she got the daith piercing, which helped quite a bit : "A daith piercing is a piercing through the ear's innermost cartilage fold. The theory of daith piercings helping to alleviate migraine is based on the idea of targeting a specific pressure point and replicating the principle of acupuncture" I wouldn't be brave enough, but maybe if the pain was bad enough?! I hope you get some relief. The color of your wrist warmers are beautiful ~ Enjoy the rest of the week! Love, Karen#33

  13. Cluster headaches?? Poor you! Mmmm, I had something that started as, say, tooth ache, although it wasn't, and it grew and grew along my jaw, behind my ear and up into my head and once there I'd just scream. ambulance was called but I had to wait for a doctor to arrive to give me extra strong painkillers and an injection, but ended up sucking icecubes and having a bag of frozen peas on my head! The Mag cover is great! and I will have to find out how to knit those mittenswarmers! Sorry I'm late! Have a great crafty week, stay safe and Happy WOYWW!? ((Lyn)) #17
