WOYWW 640 Mack the knife

Hi all, back for our weekly blog hop courtesy of Julia at the Stamping Ground (Click on the WOYWW to the right to find out more).
Here’s my “desk” this week.

The Stardust Melodies  crochet pattern by Polly Plum I’m following, has each square named after classic songs. This one is Mack the Knife.
The teeth are a bit tricky (1 treble, 3 doubles & 1 treble together), but it’s nicely 3D.
The easiest one is Begin the Beguine.

I’m alternating them with my multi-coloured squares for my cardigan. Lots of joining of squares to do 😕 so I’m  trying to do it as I go.

The cats are as cute as ever. Bella has the loveliest smile.

She loves the garden

Gracie prefers to stay inside. She gives the best cuddles.

She woke me this morning by licking my cheek!

They help me to try and stay positive but I do get thoroughly fed up of hiding from covid risk.

And finally…
You may have seen this before but I’m fond of this one…

Stay safe and keep on crafting!
Hugs

  3. I try to keep away from dragons, too much meat on me!!!
Love the photos of the kitties
Crochet squares are coming along well, I usually crochet the joins at the end, just a single crochet all along the edges.
    Have a good week

  5. I love the fact that the squares have song titles - I’d love to see the pattern for The Blockheads’ Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll!! The plain coloured squares look great amidst the patterned ones, like it a lot. Hope you have a wonderful time with your cousin tomorrow, I think it’s us in the west that are going to be stormy!

  8. Your squares are coming along a treat, Lynne, and what a cool idea to have patterns named after songs! I've got a wonderful album of Jack Hylton (big band music) with Begin the Beguine on it. Your kitties are utterly adorable - so sweet that they are so affectionate and they've settled in really well with you straight away - they certainly know they are loved! They are both so pretty. Lily and Ruby send them hugs and purrs.

    Happy WOYWW,

  10. Aw, you really can crochet, love the casual way you explain how the Mac the Knife blades are made!! Loving the cardi squares, I’ve only done little squares 4 x 4 for a double blanket and I crocheted them together and I must say, it IS a labour of love! Those cats…..looks to me as if they never lived elsewhere!

  11. I do empathise with you re trying to stay away from covid. Our city was doing so well until the University students came back, and now we have a spike. I'm wanting to get a job, but a little cared of what that might bring to me. Your crochet squares are wonderful, I love how they are named after songs! And the kitties are beautiful, however, I do not like being woken up with a face wash...I love the dragon sign, I have seen it before! Have a great week, Lindart #29

  13. Good to see the crochet coming along and the kitties look happy too. The dragon funny is my favourite today as I spent most of it moulding dragons. Wishing you a happy woyww evening, Angela x19x

  14. Thanks for your visit, Lynne, and for your good wishes for my treatment. I'm really busy at the moment trying to get on top of lots of other stuff in advance of it because I've been told I could end up very fatigued by it - more so than usual which is a bore. Studio time always ends up at the bottom of the heap when there's a lot to do, and when the creative juices are flowing like they are at the moment, that can be pretty frustrating! I'm late with the accounts this month too and my hubby is chomping at the bit for his money which is never a good sign!!

I'm so glad you enjoyed seeing this week's experiments. It is so rare that I get the time or opportunity just to "play" and see what happens, and I think it's what make me the happiest in the studio. I'll be doing some more cutting file designing soon and getting some more sheets cut, ready for use. It's a relief to get the software sorted out at last.

Kitties understand everything, including the word "no." They are so clever, and just choose to ignore that particular word! I expect Bella will soon learn the word "garden" as well - she's just like Lily for her love of it! Ruby is more like Gracie - she does love being out, but is very content indoors and doesn't clamour to be let out. She also gives me the best cuddles - Lily reserves hers for my hubby. Ruby will lie in my arms and gaze into my eyes and purr and purr, and dribble all over my arm! She licks me too, and sometimes tries to lick my hair when she's on the back of the settee behind me, which feels very peculiar!

  15. I think I would have to start with Begin with Beguine. It's going to be a lovely cardigan...
    Both funnies amused me!

    Happy WOYWW!
    Stay safe and keep well!

  16. That dragon sign is hysterical! Your crochet is speeding along, well done if it is as hot there as it has been here this week. Now you have me singing Mack the Knife in my head...there are worse songs that could be stuck there LOL!

    Happy WOYWW!

  17. Love the crochet and think with those squares randomly in it will look gr4eat.
I know what you mean about this isolation but for me I can see no let up. I know I may be in the minority but I wish everyone still had to wear masks in shops. Was only thinking the other day how nice it would be to have a meal in a restaurant. Ah well, safe or sorry?
    Hugs, Neet 17 xx
