WOYWW 654 Colours, cats and the Christmas tree

Hi all, back again for our weekly blog hop, courtesy of Miss Julia
I haven’t done much crafting this week, between (nervously) putting up the Christmas tree, plus visits to the physio, x ray dept and doctor. I may have pulled a muscle in my back at respiratory rehab, but with osteoporosis it always has to be checked if it’s a fracture. Fingers crossed it isn’t.
I’m still working on the slipover. I didn’t take the picture early enough for the colours to show up but I’ve added in a dark green that seems to work ok.

My nerves about the tree are just because this is our first Christmas with Bella and Gracie. You hear such stories! I’ve left off the particularly fragile glass baubles but so far they’ve been fine, in fact have permitted exceptionally “butter wouldn’t melt” poses.

Then, when Gracie came in wet the other evening, she was so determined to have a cuddle, she jumped up over Bella on my lap to get dried, growled at her after a minute, and jumped off. Bella just rolled her eyes at me. In general they seem to be getting on a bit better.

On the way home the other night we went up Mount Pleasant Close, known locally for ultra-bright Christmas decorations.
The little boy who went past made it for me. He was shouting “Look! There’s another one!”
I wasn’t feeling at all Christmassy till I heard a brass band in Hythe on Saturday. Thank you brass banders everywhere, including you, Jan! 🎺🎷🎺. (Sorry, no tuba emoji).
And finally…
Bella and Gracie here. We’ve instructed Hoomum to put out this message. No more mention of pumpkin hats, alright? 😹😻

The lengths we have to go to…

Purrs to all you cats 😻😻
Take care and happy crafting!
Hugs

  3. I am loving the colours in the slipover, they work beautifully together. I understand your nerves around the Christmas tree - when my sister moved back to this country with a baby and a toddler the first thing I did was bulk buy a whole load of shatterproof baubles - it certainly helped lessen the stress for many years! I hope the kitties are well behaved for the rest of the holidays, I do love the funnies this week - Lettie is hilarious!
Hope you have a lovely week,

  4. I shall try to find a tuba emoji somewhere or is it possible to make one of your own?? I remember blocking off our tree with a great big box when Owen was about 8 months old and a;ways put the non breakable baubles on the bottom branches when Harry and Ron were younger! I’m glad that Bella and Gracie have been restrained so far, they are upping the cute factor quite a lot this week. See ya later!

  5. Oh sweet post on your Cats, two are a good thing. Bailey has adjusted to the loss of his brother, but every once in a while he'll search and LOUDLY meow, sit on my lap and stare, while I explain. Only once did I catch them try to mess with the tree and I really screamed out...frightened them and they never bothered any again. Wishing you well with your health issues, just went thru 2 wks of shoulder/neck out of place so I hear you. Enjoy this week and take it easy.

  6. Love your car funnies. These are absolutely brilliant!
Your mention of the brass band took me back to when I was a child. I remember Stacksteads Prize Band coming around on Boxing Day (I think it must have been, it surely wasn't Christmas Morning) and playing Carols. Mum used to cry. As a child I never knew why - I do now though. Her favourite was 'O Come All Ye Faithful' and dad's was "Silent Night'. Funny the things we remember.
Glad the girls are behaving themselves, perhaps they have learned to tolerate one another at last.
Can't pick out the green in your knitting but it looks lovely so I am sure it works just fine. I love this colour palette.

  7. Your cat funnies are brilliant - the expression on their faces is priceless. I hope your back improves quickly - it's always such a nuisance but especially at this time of year when you have lots to do. xx Jo

  8. Hilarious memes - you can dress up dogs, but cats will not have any it LOL. Your two look ever so cute and fluffy - Oreo knows the Christmas tree is off limits - he only goes near it when he wants attention, knowing darn well that he will get it! Happy #654! xx zsuzsa #17

  11. Fingers crossed you haven't broken any bones and it is a pulled muscle - painful, for sure, but still preferable. Your cats are beautiful. We did put up our Christmas tree. Three days later we took it down. Silver was intent on wrecking it and started eating the fake snow on the fake branches. I feared for her health and my nerves. I smiled at the funnies but that could so easily be Silver in the tree!!! Hope you feel better soon. Elizabeth x #18

  14. The slipover is looking good and glad the tree has survived the cats so far. Don't remember mine having cat trouble when I had cats in the past. Ours was a toddler issue when we moved here but his childminder suggested we put the tree in the conservatory to keep both safe and there it has been put ever since (he's 23yrs on Tuesday!!!) We can see it from the lounge and the kitchen and it is unheated so it stays good until Candlemas (Feb 2nd). Let me know how the Welsh is going and thanks for pointing me to Duolingo despite my son using it for years it was you who got me to have a go and that was just by mentioning it. YAY BJ#20

  15. The slip-over is, indeed, looking lovely, and I have never been in a house with cats at Christmas, but you do hear stories. :) I can only think of the squirrel in National Lampoon's Xmas Vacation. Scary. Good luck finding the emoji, Jan! If anyone can...
    Late AGAIN, but Happy WOYWW!
