WOYWW 618 Brrr

A quick post this week. I’m now on the second front of my cat pattern shawl.

Hobbii are having a sale. As well as extras of my existing colours, I thought I’d try this blue. It doesn’t work for me with this shawl but it’s nice wool so I’ll use it for something else.

This Saturday is 60 years since my first day at school.  I’d be interested to see what you think of my experience, on that day. It still makes my blood boil now, 60 years later.
It is detailed here if you follow this link:

My first day at school

We managed to spruce up the window boxes before we went back to winter. As I write this on Tuesday afternoon, it is snowing again - in Kent!
Our plum tree is looking good at the moment.

Thea is staying firmly inside again.

And finally

Stay safe and happy WOYWW

  1. Morning Lynne. Did go peek at your first day at school. Not quite the way to express encouragement, was it?!
Just love that first "and finally" - hilarious!
I'm with you - not quite the right blue for that shawl - gorgeous colour, though. Your plants are looking great.
    Take care. God bless.

  4. Lovely wool which I am sure you will use up some way and delight us all with the finished product.
The outdoor pictures look lovely and make me want to go out but it feels so cold I think I will join Thea and stay warm and cosy inside,
Good luck with the knitting, it looks lovely at the moment.

  6. Good for you Lynne - being able to write your own name age 5 is excellent. I threw up on my first day of school - a combination of school warmish milk and nerves. I still don't drink milk unless flavoured or on cereal. The new blue is a lovely colour for another project. Meow to Thea (sensible cat). Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #7

  7. Flowers and puss cat all coming along well, and of course ...the joke at the end...Good luck with the wool, its looks okay in the photo, but I know some blues can turn purple and some greys have a colour mind of their own! Stay safe! Happy WOYWW ((Lyn)) #13!

  8. The weather is all over the place at the moment but I guess it's that time of the year. I used to do a lot of knitting and my favourite yarns were the Kaffe Fassett ones and these kind of remind me of them, love them to bits. Loving the funnies, they are good! Promise to let you all see the shadow box properly soon. Sending big hugs and wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x17x

  11. Thea isn’t the only one staying in, it’s been awful, hasn’t it! This time last year we were basking! The blue yarn is lovely, it will make something lovely.

  12. Some teachers have a lot to answer for! I too have had some experiences with teachers that have stayed with me, thankfully most of the teachers I had were not like that. Considering how cold it is outside Thea is very sensible. Happy WOYWW and have a great week Angela #6

  13. I popped over to read about your first day at school, Lynne. What an awful teacher to offer such a crushing remark! I am glad you had a rebellious spirit because otherwise it could have damaged you for life!! I don't remember my actual first day but I do remember starting school and my teacher was called Miss Ryan. She had two pink hearing aids with boxes pinned to her blouse. How things have changed since 1958. I've got a photo of myself in my new school uniform, and also my first school books which Mum kept. Love the cat stitch shawl and can't wait to see a picture of you modelling it. Thea is a sensible girl to stay in the warm. Our two are quite content indoors if it's cold - they love their home comforts too much!

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  14. Thank you for your return visit, Lynne - I've done all the embroidery bar the whiskers on the ones I wasn't enjoying doing - the main problem was getting the mouths symmetrical! Some of them have distinctly wry expressions, but then who knows what's going on in a cat's head at the best of times! I'm making good progress now and so enjoying adding the embellishments to the squares. Ruby is a great one for my bag. She also loves going in my hubby's big waste bin in his office and settling down on the paper in it, and she hooks things out of the little one in the sitting room so that she can play with them, but of course she never puts them back when she's finished with them. She's also started taking an interest in my wool box again after ignoring it for months - before, I couldn't get them out of it! Who knows what happens to change their mind about favourite places? That question has never been answered!

    Have a great weekend.
