WOYWW 720 When it’s spring again…

Hi all,
No not tulips and hamster jam but daffodils.
(Sorry if I’ve caused an ear worm 😉).
Brian is going to his uncle’s funeral next week. He was a supporter of Glamorgan cricket club and everyone’s been asked to wear daffodils.

The ones on the right are too big for buttonholes but the lower left hand one will be ok when I’ve sewn on a brooch back.
Work on the cannula sleeves continues and I’m up to number 9.

When I’ve done 10, I’ll switch to sewing up and making twiddles.

Bella and Gracie often change their favourite sleeping spots. At the moment, it’s the basket on the settee above the radiator.
We put a basket at the other end but they’ve shown no interest yet, despite the bribe of Dreamies I left in it(apart from reaching in to eat them 😻)
Bella also likes the arm of the settee where she can get stereo fussing.

And finally…,

I’m going to London today for the first time in 3 years so will mainly comment from tomorrow. I’ll let you know all about it next week.
Take care and happy WOYWW

719 Restful knitting

Hi, I’m still knitting cannula sleeves - I m up to 8, I think, and will sew up and add twiddles once I have 10 so I can deliver them and to our hospital.
Here’s Bella helping me to measure one 😀. I like doing the outside, where I can choose different colours and stitches, but they all have a plain lining as well and I’m glad when they’re done!

I somehow pulled my calf muscle getting out of the car on Saturday, so I’m hobbling about like an old woman this week and sitting with my feet up, knitting. It was good to catch up with LLJ on a Monday video call, though.
At least with this knitting,  I’m using up some of my yarn stash!
Gracie likes all the fuss as well.

And finally…

Take care and happy WOYWW!

WOYWW 718 Muscle memory

Hi all, and happy International Women’s Day! sorry not to visit many desks last week. Let me show you my crafting and then I’ll come back to that.

After showing you that photo of the lady cuddling my twiddler last week, I thought I’d do more. These are just the basic sleeves and I’ll add the twiddles later. It’s funny how much knitting is in my muscle memory. As long as I don’t think too hard, techniques like casting on with my thumb are automatic. I’ve not knit for 3 years but it’s surprisingly easy to go back to.
The post-infection crash came back last week, hence my only visiting a few desks. Doctors say they don’t know what it is, but any time I have trouble with my lungs, I get a week or more of total exhaustion and achiness. Fortunately, it’s going now.

Thanks for all your responses to my questions- I’m thinking about the cover design for my novel, which will be published in May!
I’ll let you know when I’ve more news.

Gracie and Bella have been cuddling up to me. Gracie is fond of kefir so she dips her paw into my empty glass (before it goes in the dishwasher!) then licks her paw clean.. It’s so cute!

Bella teaches cuteness at the purrcademy. They both send you purrs!

And finally…

WOYWW 717 Twiddling

Hi all, I’m back for our Wednesday blog hop care of Miss Julia at The Stamping Ground
I’m crocheting twiddles again this week.

I was so touched by a photo sent to me from the partner of a lady with dementia.
Apparently she talks to the twiddler I made for her and cuddles it - doesn’t it make you glad to make them? (I’ve edited it to shield her face, for privacy).

I’m still working on the design of my big project and have a new question for you, if you’d like to participate.
        Here’s the question:
What 3 things (not monuments) does Paris make you think of?
I know everyone thinks of the Eiffel Tower but I need to go beyond that.
More details soon, I promise!

It was our monthly farmers and craft market in our village hall on Sunday. It was sleeting outside but we went for a bit.
Bella and Gracie are doing assiduous radiator worship at the mo, but send you all purrs.
When they’re not competing for lap space…

And finally:

WOYWW 716 Interesting Times

Hi all!
Here’s Bella helping me with my latest bit of crochet.
It’s the Frida Kahlo shade of Louisa Harding’s yarn Pittura.

II’ve done one front and am now starting the back. It’s 4 ply but grows quickly in herringbone stitch.
I’ve also done a sketch for my new project. I’d be interested to know what this reminds you of, if anything, please. Jan, you know, but you could add a teeny clue if you wish. I’ll be telling you more about it in the next few weeks.

Other aspects of this have had me doing a lot more work but I enjoyed doing this sketch.
This photo of Bella was a surprise as well.
She and Gracie both send purrs to you all.

And finally…

I’ll try to get round more desks this week.
Take care all and happy WOYWW

WOYWW 715 Twiddles

Hi, I’ve been twiddling these past couple of weeks, in between a journey to the New Forest and then to near Exeter. More about that later after my desk.

A friend who’s a beekeeper asked me for a twiddle sleeve for her partner, with animals, a bee etc.
Although I don’t enjoy the knitting of cannula sleeves now, I’ve carried on making twiddles and sent three bags full yesterday to women in the Handmade for Dementia group on Facebook who’ll make cannula sleeves for hospital patients with dementia.

I had time to make them as we had to go to the New Forest for the funeral of an old friend - a sad end.
As we were west of the dreaded M25 we went on to Crediton, Devon, for a few days to see my cousin, her husband and family.
Here’s my cousin and I outside the Fisherman’s Cot, near Tiverton. She’s standing on a step, btw!

Devon has lots of chocolate box pretty thatched roofs and narrow, winding lanes.

My headaches resolved into a nasty sinusitis, and I’m now on antibiotics as it’s affecting my lungs. Fingers crossed, I’ve caught that early.
Gracie and Bella were glad to see us home and send you all purrs.

WOYWW 713

Hi, I hope I have the right week number.
Here’s my final green man

It was ready for his birthday and he says he likes it.
I’m struggling a bit with a pain that radiates down from my cheek bone. I’ve checked with my dentist and my teeth are ok. I’m waiting for an appointment with my surgery. It could be some form of neuralgia.
We had a nice treat this week. My goddaughter sent us some Potteries oatcakes from Stoke.
We eat them with bacon, cheese, tomato and spring onion. A real treat.

Gracie and Bella send purrs to you all.
And finally…

Take care and happy WOYWW
