WOYWW 756 Rusty crochet and art classes

Hi all,
I hope you’re all well and keeping warm. It’s gone very cold here.
I’m struggling a bit with the arm reduction on B’s rusty slipover.

The pattern had me decreasing too many at the armpit and left the back too narrow so I’m busking it.

I also had to wind a new ball of the pepper alpaca. Bella has been helping.

I do wish they’d sell it in balls instead of hanks. It worked with using crochet hooks attached to the arms of my chair with elastic bands.
All done!

At art class we did charcoal drawings of birds.

We’ve now started a still life with a book, an orange and a mug. Of course, I used my novel, A Sense For Silver, for the book. It’s a tricky drawing as perspective has to be taken into account.

We’ll be doing more work on it on Thursday, our last class of the term.
I bought some more Inktense pencils from a company called Art discounts. There was supposed to be a 5% discount but I couldn’t find the window for the code. Anyway, after a bit of to and fro they gave me the discount retrospectively. They have good prices, if you need anything:https://artdiscount.co.uk/

On Sunday this week, we’ll be selling my novel at a craft fair in Wye. https://www.fighutdesign.co.uk/product-page/wye-village-hall-3-december-2023

Gracie and Bella send purrs.

And finally….

Take care and happy WOYWW

  4. I agree re:hanks vs. balls! What a "helpful" kitty LOL! Is the pattern badly written I wonder, I hate that. I've had a few and not only free ones. Thanks for the funnies - too true about craft supplies...
    On the day so YAY!

  12. From Lindart:
I bought your novel on Amazon as an e-book for my Kindle. My Kindle is for "night reading" before I go to sleep and when I wake up in the night. It was very enjoyable!

  17. I can't tell if my comment is waiting to be approved or if I let it disappear! I'm admiring of you tenacity with the slipover, the newer colours are lovely, but the counting, frogging, re-starting...wow, most impressive alynne. Also you probably wind the neatest yarn ball I've ever seen! ,love your control of charcoal, not a medium I've used anywhere but in an art class, the bird is marvellous. And thanks for the art discount link, I've just saved £17 on a Christmas present!
